I consider myself a musical apprentice rather than a musician with that special "magic" or transcendent fame. Furthermore, I am not a huge fan of what we call symphonic music. I do listen to and appreciate it when it enriches other genres—which it certainly does. I find that process dignifying for any genre, and the fact that a Venezuelan is doing it should fill us with pride; it helps distance us from the negative images others abroad might hold of us. It is one less stripe on the tiger, or one less white spot on the panther.
Dudamel en su haber casi biográfico porque no puedo citar fechas, orígenes y trayectoria internacional. Es un personaje que ha hecho de la música un verdadero estilo de vida. Me considero un aprendiz de músico más no un músico con duende (músico con trascendencia y fama) Y no soy muy admirador de lo que denominamos música sinfónica. La escucho y la valoro cuando enriquece, porque sí, a otros géneros; eso me parece tan dignificante para cualquier género y que lo haga un venezolano, nos debería llenar de orgullo porque eso nos aleja de las imágenes negativas que puedan tener de nosotros en el exterior.
