These images were taken by others and shared with me from Wednesday, July 29, 2026—an occasion where I served as the keynote speaker or master of ceremonies for the Class of 2025–2026 at the Celinda Adams Bolivarian School in Guanare. The lighting was decent, though I was battling the onset of the flu amidst the rain. In short, these are my experiences.
The greatest recognition comes from your students—the people with whom you share knowledge. It has been a true blessing to work as an educator and to serve as a presenter at countless graduation ceremonies. One morning, as I set out to follow the procedures for awarding early childhood and sixth-grade completion certificates, I was truly touched to receive an unexpected token of appreciation; for me, this ranks as the second most important form of recognition—second only to the honor of being considered and invited to such a special school event.

El mejor reconocimiento es el de tus estudiantes, la gente a la cual le impartes o compartes conocimiento, lo cual ha sido una bendición al ejercer como educador y ser presentador en infinidad de actos de grado. Como en una mañana me dispuse a seguir las indicaciones para la entrega de los certificados de aprobación de educación inicial y sexto grado y vaya que siendo reconocido, ese detalle no lo eseperaba, porque ese el segundo reconocimiento más importante, puesto que el primero es lograr ser tomado en cuenta y ser invitado a un evento escolar muy especial

I attended as a guest of Mariuska Montilla—an educator and one of my public speaking students—and was pleasantly surprised to run into a former high school classmate I hadn't seen in 26 years: the teacher Yoledis Navarro. It was a striking moment; those of us striving to do good work often cross paths to celebrate beautiful academic ceremonies—events that go far beyond merely following a script. It is about highlighting what truly matters to the graduates and their families—creating a special, unforgettable memory marking the completion of primary or basic education (whatever the specific term may be in a given country). Personally, I have found that such ceremonies never follow a fixed structure, as they are shaped by the unique styles of the organizers; yet, to avoid disrupting protocol, the keynote speaker adapts to the inviting institution's script—because, ultimately, the underlying sentiment remains the same as ever...
Fui un invitado de parte de la docente Mariuska Montilla, una de mis estudiantes de oratoria, y al llegar me encuentro con la sorpresa de reecontrarme con una compañera de bachillerato que no veía desde hace 26 años, la profesora Yoledis Navarro, lo cual me sorprendió porque en el camino de los buenos y quienes intentamos hacer algo bien, nos encontramos para celebrar un acto académico hermoso, puesto que no se trata de seguir solamente un guion. Se trata de realzar lo importante para los graduandos para sus padres y sus familiares, un momento especial que queda grabado en los recuerdos: La graduación de la educación primaria, básica o escolar o como se llame dependiendo del país... En lo personal puedo decirles que los actos académicos de este tipo nunca tienen una misma estructura definida por las particularidades de quienes organizan estos eventos pero para no caer en la tentativa de cambiar el protocolo, el orador de orden se amolda o sigue el guion de la institución que invita; porque al final es el mismo sentimiento de siempre...
One of the greatest privileges that education has given me—and continues to give me—is the ability to do my part to contribute and give back; and, even after retirement, to continue reaping the rewards of good, positive actions from those around me and from allied friends, as well as the professional recognition of having done something useful. Education and public speaking provide me with this, and for that reason, I feel truly fulfilled.
Uno de los mayores privilegios que me dió y me sigue dando la educación, es el poder aportar mi grano de arena para brindar y contribuir, y después de la jubilación, seguir recogiendo acciones buenas y positivas de personas que te rodean, de amistades aliadas y el reconocimiento profesional de haber hecho algo útil. Eso me lo brinda la educación y la oratoria, es por eso que me doy servido...
I thank God for so much fulfillment and for the blessings of recognition—even though I have been away from the classroom for three years. Yet, I remain committed to continuing to contribute; for as long as I am able, I will be at the service of the many generations who passed through my care and who express their gratitude—asking for nothing in return. I return that gratitude and ask God to bestow many blessings upon them... It has been 26 years, and there are more to come, for as long as the Creator wills it. God bless you all; until next time...
Le agradezco a Dios por tantas satisfacciones y por las bendiciones de reconocimiento a pesar que estoy desde hace tres años alejados de los salones de clases pero si en mi haber está seguir aportando por estos momentos, mientras pueda, estaré al servicio de las tantas generaciones que pasaron por mis manos y que agradecen, sin interés alguno. Porque les devuelvo el agradecimiento y le pido a Dios, para ellos, muchas bendiciones... Son 26 años y los que faltan hasta que el creador lo permita. Dios les bendiga, hasta la próxima...
