A beautiful yew berry bush. I was out for a walk and saw this beautiful bush. I wanted to take a picture of it to share with you. The yew is a coniferous shrub. It can grow either as a tree or as a shrub. I like that it stays green year-round, both in winter and summer. When other trees have lost their leaves and aren’t as pretty anymore, the yew shrub will still be green even during the cold winter months. That’s why I like coniferous shrubs and trees. Yew shrubs are often pruned to create a perfect, neat shape. The shrub doesn’t grow quickly, but it is long-lived. You can plant a yew in your yard, but it also grows in the wild. Generally, the shrub grows up to 3 meters tall, but in the wild it can grow even taller. The shrub tolerates shade well, so it can be planted both on the sunny side and in the shade. We’re used to seeing cones on coniferous trees, but yew trees bear red berries. However, these berries must never be eaten, because their seeds are poisonous. If you plant a yew tree at home and have children, be sure to explain to them that they must never eat these berries under any circumstances. Everything about this tree is poisonous: the needles, the berries, and the bark. Still, it is a beautiful plant that will enhance any yard.
