Early this morning I went out chasing mist. I could see low clouds hanging over the hills from a distance, so I decided to head straight for one particular wood that always looks good when the morning mist settles in.
Sadly, by the time I actually arrived, the air had completely cleared. I took a couple of quick photos and then hot footed it over to a neighbouring wood where I could see thick mist drifting through the trees.
Even though it was only a few minutes away, by the time I walked over, that mist had more or less dissipated too. I decided I was a bit rubbish at mist chasing. Anyway, every cloud has a silver lining as they say. Even though the mist had mostly disappeared before I could capture it, the woods were full of other autumn treats to enjoy instead on my morning walk.
The autumn leaves were quite colourful, showing off lovely shades of red, orange, green and yellow.
The real surprise was the amount of fungi that had come through on the woodland floor. I spotted small yellow clusters, smooth brown caps, and more fly agarics with white spots standing out against the green forest floor.
I might not have come home with many misty pictures I originally planned to take, but it was still a nice morning to be out in the woods.
