Observe, Analyze, and Describe: An Image for Everyone! —This Is September’s Interactive Activity— In Sunday of Seventh Day

In human beings, images arise when we cannot explain in words what we feel or the concepts we have about a particular phenomenon in life. The fact is, the human mind has always communicated through images—in dreams, when we hear a phrase, when we smell something that reminds us of a specific moment—and, very often, it is the image that opens our consciousness and, in our interactions, serves as the starting point for analyzing even our surroundings.

This is an exercise I’ve always enjoyed doing on Seventh Day on the #Hive platform; and since we’re keeping an eye on Initiative 26, which is currently in the works, we’re going to share, in the meantime, this interactive practice with an image for everyone—so we can share the meanings that emerge from it and offer diverse points of view. Because when we learn to see things differently, even our actions change…

What about behavior?

Images arise from different parts of the brain; they convey ideas or concepts that cannot be expressed through words.

In fact, the subconscious uses images in dreams to communicate without the need for language, and these images are always linked to emotions that move you, alert you, reassure you, or add depth to some aspect of your life.

We know that interpreting the images that arise from your dreams is often difficult and depends on the dreamer’s personal history.

Well, the same is true of the meanings you assign to an image you can explore—by explaining what it evokes in you, which in turn allows you to understand it.

Thus, in this interaction between you and the object, everything is important—from the meanings and emotions to the way, whether positive or negative, in which you approach that image to analyze it; yes, everything is important.

By analyzing an image —expressed through beliefs, experiences, and emotions— it’s possible to learn more about a person than when they speak or express their own ideas.

Seventh Day Interactive Activity

Panxo Barrera, a Clinical Behavioral Specialist, Honorary Fellow of the International Academy of Science, Technology, and Humanities, and an expert in cultural transformation, leadership, and innovative thinking—among other achievements—has contributed an article to the Entropy Blog titled: Therapeutic Photography: Visual Language—A Surprising Shortcut, which I’d like you to read.

In clinical settings, photographic images have been used as open-ended visual narratives, where people construct meanings from within—based on their own experiences—from what they observe.

The fact is that everything is imbued with the person expressing themselves through ambiguity or the free association of ideas, and it seems that images allow us, as healthcare professionals, to access deep layers of another human being’s cognitive processes.

What do I see?

What do I feel when I look at this image?

What does it remind me of?

What do I think I know about this image?

This is a tool, not only for dialogue, but also for revealing ourselves to those who read or listen to us.

From the moment I stand before the image in a certain posture—whether open or closed—it begins to speak to me and creates a safe space within this community where we can confidently share profound topics without direct confrontation, because the object of analysis is simply the image, not the human being who observes and examines it.

The color, the shape, the pictorial atmosphere… Everything

In this Interactive Activity, we ask you to focus on the image marked as the image for the interactive activity—the one of the woman at the window…

Take your time to write down what this image evokes in you.

What it makes you remember, feel, or think.

Try writing as if you were addressing yourself, simply expressing what you think you know and feel when you look at that image.

The different points of view we gather will allow our readers to gain new perspectives on a topic, situation, or emotion, knowing that diverse viewpoints can lead to changes in thought and behavior.

Because, as we said, another point of view can lead us to a different decision and a different way of acting.

I hope that while we await the 26th Seventh Day Initiative, we can get to know each other better through this activity, highlight issues we didn’t realize were pending or necessary, and collectively develop meaningful insights aimed at giving meaning and direction to our experiences.

Because we are a community of creators—both of content and of perspectives on life.

And because, together, we contribute to our collective well-being and growth.
