Travel… That experience of self-transformation and healing. -And you don't have to be Julia Roberts or Javier Bardem to achieve it- In Seventh Day Sunday

It feels strange to me to be bringing up this topic of travel while we’re living through such a difficult economic situation as the one in Venezuela—and the one our Cuban friends are facing, who, by the way, are a very important part of our @holos-lotus community—but I think it’s important.
*And we have to be realistic: even though many of us, in one way or another, have dreamed of that wonderful, transformative journey, just like the one in Eat, Pray, Love, whether the movie or Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, you don’t necessarily have to take a trip that lasts for months to distant, expensive cities to enjoy the health benefits of travel and the personal transformation that the experience brings… How and why should we travel with limited funds and time, yet with high expectations of healing and personal transformation?*

A Healthy Reason
It’s not considered a sport, but it’s a wonderful tool for improving your well-being.
It’s not just a pleasure—science has shown that it’s an excellent source of health. In fact, research published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, as reported by the newspaper El Clarín, states that there is a dopamine receptor considered to be a travel gene.
Yes, this receptor has been identified by the acronym DRD4 7r, which determines the desire to travel, to explore, and to maintain a curiosity about one’s surroundings, external stimuli, and the pursuit of new goals.
And that’s exactly what travel does: it brings about a clear improvement in mood and creative productivity…
That’s why people talk about the joy of traveling and get excited as the departure date approaches—and that excitement keeps us in a good mood even before the trip begins.
Travel enriches our lives and broadens our perspectives on what existence is all about.
It helps us learn beyond social media—in person and in a stimulating way—through our surroundings and through contact with other people and environments.
Exploring nature helps strengthen our immune system and enrich our life stories; and it goes without saying that it reduces anxiety, stress, and depression.

With limited money and time…
The point is the possibility of traveling to improve our physical, mental, and emotional health without having to go to Italy or the pyramids of Egypt.
That’s something I’d love to do—and it is possible, just as @tiolucioviajero did when he recently traveled to Egypt…
But to have an enriching and rewarding experience, first come up with a detailed plan, starting with accommodations—such as staying with family and friends or at small hotels for a weekend.
This way, you’ll make the most of your time and have as many experiences as possible; so manage your money wisely from the very beginning—from choosing your ticket to covering expenses during the trip—and bring small snacks so you don’t have to buy food at stops if you’re traveling by bus.
Start saving as soon as you arrive at your destination by using public transportation...
Make sure to travel as light as possible; that’s why the backpacking style has become so popular lately—packing outfits you can wear multiple times.
Try to travel during the off-season—and you know why—though that also depends on the plan you make in advance, specifically your choice of travel dates.
Likewise, don’t forget to maintain your self-care routine as soon as you arrive at your destination.
And if you don’t have family or friends who’ve invited you to stay with them, choose your accommodations wisely: Share a room, use an Airbnb, or ask for rooms with bunk beds to accommodate more people.

Embrace Your Experience
Believe it or not, many people travel and, although they are physically and mentally stimulated, achieve little personal growth; and this is because we must be able to embrace that travel experience in order to grow.
For example, you must be open to new experiences and take risks to seek out adventures and thrills—of course, with care and caution.
Many people don’t connect with nature and focus only on partying, drinking, and eating—which often leads to significant physical discomfort in the early hours of the trip, undermining the benefits of the journey.
That’s why you should explore new places and cultures; doing so will naturally boost your creativity and broaden your outlook on life.
Make the most of it from the very beginning by keeping a travel journal of some sort—whether through photos on your phone or by writing—since it never hurts to use an old-fashioned technique that helps you connect with yourself.
Finally, don’t act like you know it all.
Be open to learning; therefore, be humble, relax, and stay open to what’s around you without judging—and in this way, you’ll not only get to know other cultures and people, but also yourself.
Travel enhances independence, creativity, and your outlook on life, so after this trip, you’ll have the tools to make better decisions in your life.
I know that, even though we’re not a travel community, we should talk about the benefits that our human activities bring us.
So, why don’t we dare to travel mindfully and share our experiences with this wonderful #Hive community?
