¡Hola amigos lectores!

Hello, readers! Today I’d like to share my review of A Court of Mist and Fury, the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. Before I do that, I’d like to clarify that I’m rereading the series—I read these books about four years ago—but with the upcoming release of the next book, I wanted to have everything fresh in my mind.

In this second part, we see Feyre, our protagonist, having to adjust to her new life and her new fae body. Her wedding to Tamlin is drawing ever closer, but she can’t stop thinking about the horrors she experienced in Under the Mountain, so she begins to become a shell of her former self—her body is present, but her spirit is broken, and no one seems to notice. That is, until the High Lord of the Night Court, Rhysand, appears to enforce the part of the deal he made with her: to spend a week of her life with him. So he takes her away, and there she discovers that the Night Court and Rhysand are not the villains they appear to be to others. That’s how she’ll learn about the internal war raging between the courts and the King of Hybern’s plans to tear down the wall separating the mortal realms from the immortal ones. Time is running out, and she needs to make her own decisions.

It's hard to talk about the plot because a short summary doesn't say anything, and a long one might say too much, but I'll try to be as clear as possible without giving too much away. Those who have read this series know everything this book entails; personally, it’s one of my favorites out of all the ones released so far. In it, we see a broken Feyre, and it’s frustrating that no one seems to notice, while her supposed enemies are the ones who help her heal.

The book is divided into parts. In the first part, we experience all the pain and depression Feyre is mired in, until the turning point occurs and we see her rescued—in one way or another—by the supposed villain and his court. In the second part, we see Feyre recovering; we’re introduced to the true Night Court and Velaris, the City of Stars, which is as wonderful as it sounds. We also meet new characters we’re sure to love, and we see Feyre training the fae powers she inherited from the Seven Courts, who each donated a seed of their power so she could be revived toward the end of the first book. Though, of course, they didn’t know this.

We also get a glimpse of this looming war, and Feyre had no idea about it because Tamlin never told her these things—he just wanted her as nothing more than a decorative wife. In contrast, at the Night Court, she is treated as an equal and taken seriously; to earn their trust, she is put to the test and passes each one with flying colors. In the midst of all this, a couple of events and revelations unfold between her and Rhysand, and that’s when the true romantic bond between them emerges.

To wrap up the book, we find Feyre willing to do anything to protect her loved ones and her court; to do so, she must make another sacrifice, but this time she is not defenseless—her enemies will not realize that they have let the Trojan horse into their territory.

Amé a Feyre y Rhysand, ¡qué hombre! Amé a Cassian, Azriel y Mor e incluso a Amren.

It’s a series I adore with all my heart, and nothing I say can do it justice. I love every single page—I laughed, I got angry, I was outraged. Rereading it brought back memories and made me want to pay attention to other events that will be important later on. I loved Feyre and Rhysand—what a man! I loved Cassian, Azriel, and Mor, and even Amren. And of course, I’m going to keep loving Lucien despite his blunders because he truly believed he was doing the right thing and had no idea of the hell that was unleashed inside Feyre, or of everything else.

If you like romances, you can't miss out on reading these books—they're really good. I've already started rereading the third one, and I have less than a month to read the ones I haven't read yet. It's a Herculean task, but I'll try and I'll succeed because I can do it.
