¡Hola amigos lectores! Hoy les vengo a compartir mi reseña acerca del libro El sobrino del mago del autor C.S. Lewis. Este es parte de la saga Las crónicas de Narnia.
Hello, readers! Today I'm here to share my review of the book The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis. It's part of the Chronicles of Narnia series.
En esta historia seguimos a un niño llamado Digory que vive con sus tíos. Uno de ellos es un mago que se la pasa encerrado en el altillo tramando algo. Digory tiene a su madre muy enferma y a su padre trabajando en el extranjero, su única amiga es su vecina llamada Polly, otra niña de su edad. Un día, mientras jugaban, entran al estudio del tío mago de Digory y este los alienta a ponerse unos anillos que los transportan a una tierra desconocida. Ahí podrán viajar a diferentes mundos, y ser partícipes de la creación del mundo de Narnia, pero también serán los responsables de haber desatado el mal, de haber despertado a la bruja blanca.
In this story, we follow a boy named Digory who lives with his aunt and uncle. One of them is a wizard who spends all his time locked away in the attic, plotting something. Digory’s mother is very ill and his father is working abroad; his only friend is his neighbor, Polly, another girl his age. One day, while they were playing, they wandered into the study of Digory’s wizard uncle, who encouraged them to put on some rings that transported them to an unknown land. There, they would be able to travel to different worlds and play a part in the creation of the world of Narnia, but they would also be responsible for unleashing evil and awakening the White Witch.
Está claro que es un libro pensado para un público infantil, pero aún así es atrapante y me gusta ir dándome cuenta de la conexión entre este mundo y la religión. Hay varios pasajes que hacen referencia a La Biblia, como la creación de Narnia y el hecho de que llamó a los niños hijos de Adam y de Eva. Pero tiene toda esa magia y colores que solo se encuentran en un libro de fantasía, y ya saben que yo amo este género.
It’s clear that this book is intended for a young audience, but it’s still captivating, and I enjoy discovering the connection between this world and religion. There are several passages that reference the Bible, such as the creation of Narnia and the fact that he called the children the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. But it has all that magic and color that you only find in a fantasy book, and you know I love this genre.
No soy tan fan del mundo de Narnia, de hecho, tampoco llegué a ver las películas, solo fragmentos de acá y de allá. Pero hace poco compré esta edición que viene con todos los libros en uno solo y me pareció buena idea conocer la historia. Sin dudas tiene muy lindos valores y mensajes. Además de esa inocencia que manejan los libros más infantiles, hay un humor bastante pueril que me da hasta ternura y los niños son bastantes queribles, sobre todo Polly, porque la niña es más racional e inteligente que Digory que se rige más por el instinto y la impulsividad.
I’m not that big of a fan of The Chronicles of Narnia; in fact, I never even got around to watching the movies—just bits and pieces here and there. But I recently bought this edition that includes all the books in one volume, and I thought it would be a good idea to get to know the story. It certainly has some very beautiful values and messages. In addition to the innocence found in most children’s books, there’s a rather childish sense of humor that I actually find endearing, and the kids are quite lovable—especially Polly, because she’s more rational and intelligent than Digory, who’s more driven by instinct and impulsiveness.
Me encantó conocer cómo fue la creación del mundo de Narnia desde su primer día, de cómo Aslan, el famoso león, fue creando al cielo y la tierra y a los animales que lo habitaron. Luego cayeron los seres humanos como enviados por el destino y se nombró al primer rey y reina del lugar, se les dio instrucciones de cómo gobernar y se les asignó las tierras para hacerlo. Con la advertencia de que Narnia sería un lugar seguro por muchos años, hasta que la bruja intente hacerse con el poder, pero eso sucederá mucho tiempo después.
I loved learning about how the world of Narnia was created from the very beginning—how Aslan, the famous lion, created the heavens and the earth and the animals that inhabited them. Then humans arrived, as if sent by fate, and the first king and queen of the land were appointed; they were given instructions on how to rule and were assigned the lands to do so. They were warned that Narnia would be a safe place for many years, until the witch tried to seize power—but that would happen much later.
Mientras tanto, con todo resuelto, los niños volvieron a su mundo y gracias a Aslan la madre de Digory se recuperó. Así vivió una vida larga y feliz hasta que tiempo después una niña de su linaje cruce por ese mundo de nuevo y se embarque en una nueva aventura. Pero eso es para el próximo libro, por lo pronto les recomiendo este que es una muy linda historia que merece la pena conocer.
Meanwhile, with everything resolved, the children returned to their own world, and thanks to Aslan, Digory’s mother recovered. She went on to live a long and happy life until, some time later, a girl descended from her lineage crossed into that world once more and embarked on a new adventure. But that’s for the next book; for now, I recommend this one—it’s a very lovely story that’s well worth reading.
