The landscape seems serene. However, many streams in different parts of the capital receive wastewater from nearby homes. Their waters eventually flow into Havana Bay and, if not properly treated, can carry pollutants all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. In my city, both the ditches and the streams remain constantly polluted. That is why landscapes like these have such a strong impact on me: their beauty somehow conceals the damage humans cause them.

El paisaje parece sereno. Sin embargo, muchos arroyos de distintos rincones de la capital reciben aguas residuales de las viviendas cercanas. Sus aguas terminan en La Bahía de La Habana y, si no se tratan adecuadamente, pueden llegar de esta forma al oceáno Atlántico. En mi ciudad, tanto las zanjas como los arroyos permanecen costantemente contaminados. Por eso, estos tipos de paisajes son tan impactantes para mí: su belleza oculta de algún modo los daños que le causa el hombre.
