All the screenshots are taken from the game The Blood of Dawnwalker created by Rebel Wolves. I did not create this game.
Last time we became a public enemy. We also spoke Brencis bootlicker/ supporter Florin. We even let him live despite our desire to slay him. After that we went to see Lacra again. She found no other way to question Isbrand so we ended up draining him to death and traveling with his soul to vampire hell- Anachora. There we found some memories about Isbrand's and Brencis past. Before Isbrand turned him into vampire Brencis was a roman commander. In some way he still loved his wife even after he was turned into vampire. But wife now sow Brencis as a monster and burned herself to death just so she would not have go with Brencis. We also found out Brencis ambition to take vampire hell's powers for himself. This was the reason why he fought with Isbrand and he summoned all his generals in order to deafeat his sire. Neither Lacra nor us invited Isbrand to join us so he kept rotting in vampire hell. Then we returned to real world and asked Lacra some questions about her. And about Coen and other dawnwalkers.
This time we destroyed some operations of last Brencis general Xanthe. They were interesting enough but this post will already be long so I am not sharing any screenshots from that. Either way really pissed Xanthe off. After that some Brencis human soldiers came and informed Coen that Xanthe is kidnapping young girls and that they are never seen again. The soldiers also said that we can only get to Xanthe keep we need a special lantern. Then they gave us such lantern.
After investigating the keep we found Xanthe's biggest treasure and weakness- her daughter(who looked like a frankenstein monster...). After that we fought Xanthe and she proved to be insanely week. Or maybe Coen was just too strong at this point...Either eye we beat Xanthe with no problems. In fact I think that we would have beaten her with just our fist with no sword as well. After we defeated Xanthe she begged us to spare her and her daughter's lives. But we decided to slay them like a montsrs they are. Then we traveled to vamvire hell again. Xanthe did not ask us to invite her so we left her soul in hell.
Then we got an invitation from Brencis to parley. It seems that our efforts did not go to waste- he started respecting Coen's name. Brencis brought our father to parley location. He said that letting us speak with our father was a sign of good will. After that Brencis made us an offer. He will free our family and our neigbours from or village of Laslea. In exhange for that Brencis only wanted us to mark a rebel's hideout. We could have fought Brencis and slew him. But that seemed like a boring choice- siding with evil tyrant seemed way more interesting than slaying him like in most others stories. Besides his offer was not bad. He will mind his business and we mind our own. Also Brencis was able to cure people from plague and I thought that if we would just slay him people would die from plague instead. And we already beaten and killed all Brencis generals so we could perhaps slay him in the future should he break his word and attack people of Laslea. So we accepted Brencis offer. Will we get to regret this decision in the future? Perhaps. Does it make things more interesting? Absolutely. Also Brencis basically confirmed that vampires in higher Witcher verse are far superior to vampires in this game. In Witcher world higher vampires see humans as annoying pests at most. Most of the time even less than that. But in this game vampire Brencis was hidding from humans for a long time and considered them a real threat...
After that we met Brencis soldiers who told us about Xanthe and revealed them the fate of kidnapped girls. Then we got in to the city and marked the rebels hideout. After that Brencis apeared and slaughtered all the rebels. That seemed like a small price to pay for or family and village freedom. So we beat the game without crossing swords with Brencis in a duel to the death. Sometimes words can achieve more than swords, right?
Then started the epilogue. Brencis kept his word. For now at least? Our willage as well as our family were free from his bloodthirsty rule. But this also meant that we had no lord or master to look after us and our needs. And the villagers were less than grateful to Coen for saving their sorry assess. In fact it seemed that they now feared Coen as much as Brencis himself. Others complained that we did not kill Brencis and made a deal with them. Even if it meant saving them... Also we found a stranger in our willage. His name was Neberu and he knew a lot about us. We did some small task around the village and helped our family and neigbours one last time. Then we went to see our romance healer Anca. And she gave us a powerful potion. As well a warnning that it could be lethal. At first it seemed that Coen will use it on himself. But then he went to the caves at night.
In the caves we found out that Lunka(Coen's little sister) has become a mindless beast- a failed vampire creature. Coen was about to give her Anca's potion saying that he has no other remedy. But then the stranger Neberu apeared in the cave and revealed a few things. He is in fact a Dawnwalker just like Coen. He is working for some Council of Augurs. Lunka could still be turned into a real vampire and have a decent life like that. And finally Neberu and Augurs have some kind of task for Coen and will only help Lunka if Coen will do that task. After feeling that he has no other choice Coeen agreed with this offer. Neberu also said that he came here to solve the problem of Brencis. So it is likely that old vampire lord will still have a bloody accident even if he will not fall on Coen's sword. After that Coen took his little sister Lunka with him and left the village. After that in the ending summary he said some interesting things. His and Anca's romance did not last long. Lacra died trying to fight Brencis on her own. And it seems that Neberu really took his time but eventualy destroyed Brencis years later. After that we got a preview of one of the future Blood of Dawnwalker games that will seemingly take place in a present day.
All in all The Blood of Dawnwalker is really bloody awesome game. It has great story and characters. Many interesting and meaningful choices. I felt that romance with Anca was a bit lacking and could have benefited from more content. Still I can't wait to play the sequel(s) once they will be released. But despite that this for me is only a strong contender for Game of the year of 2026. I don't care about GTA 6. But just a few days ago I finished playing Zero parades for dead spies and I loved that game just as much (or perhaps even more) as The Blood of Dawnwalker. Both games are great works of art and I am honestly not sure which of them I like more. So it is a good thing that I am not the one deciding what game should be GOTY. Because I would end up either tossing a coin or undeciding for years. It is cool that creators of The Blood of Dawnwalker are making a sequal. But I am still really sad that I will probably never get to see and play Zero parades 2( Or Disco Elysium 2). Because creators of those games are not doing good financially... So I will use this as an opportunity to say this- both Disco Elysium and Zero parades for dead spies are well worth the money and must play for all RPG fans. The same is truth for The Blood of Dawnwalker. It is not my favorite game ever. But despite that it is an inredibly good start to a new trilogy(?) and potential of future The Blood of Dawnwalker games is insane.
