Hello, dear friends! I hope you are all doing well. It has been nearly a month since I last shared my work with you; between so many other things, I simply didn't have much free time. However, I am back to tell you about one of my latest artworks, which was featured in an exhibition honoring my city's founding. The competition was dedicated to the city, and the theme required painting something related to it; I chose the railway—a place I pass by constantly and one that many of you have admired in my photographs. My painting was selected from a total of 180 entries, with only 50 pieces chosen in the end. Here, I’ll share how I created the painting and show you some photos from the exhibition. Let’s get started!

You know me—I like to do almost everything myself, even making my own painting canvases. I had a wooden stretcher frame lying around that just needed fabric, so I bought some, stapled it on, and created my canvas. To prime the fabric, I applied a homemade Gesso mixture, and just like that, my canvas was ready to paint on. I saved quite a bit of money by doing it this way.

There are three main subjects in this painting: the sky, the vegetation, and the train tracks—all of which hold great significance for me. I paint the sky aiming to capture a vibrant sunset; fortunately, my city is known for its beautiful sunsets, which dazzle all the residents with their vivid colors.

As I mixed and applied layer upon layer of paint, the clouds began to emerge. I had to ensure the color contrast was strong enough to capture the essence of a beautiful sunset. Gradually, I started painting the vegetation in the middle section. Many of those trees belong to my neighbors.

Then, you can observe how the ground surface gradually emerges at the bottom of the painting; the train tracks are covered in abundant grass and wild vegetation. This was by far the section where I spent the most time painting, using various types of brushes to apply small, fine strokes to render the grass—which is beginning to dry out and take on an ochre hue in the light of the setting sun.

As the painting took shape, the details became more complex—especially the grass—but little by little, step by step, I worked on the brushstrokes to ensure the grass looked right. Next, I added the train tracks; I used a ruler for precise lines, as I didn't want them to look distorted, and then I added more color to the lower section. Finally, I placed the painting in a reddish wooden frame, which gave it a beautiful, professional finish, and with that, it was complete. Ready for the exhibition.

It was an indescribable feeling; seeing so many people looking at my work made me feel satisfied with the results. I received many compliments and questions about the painting—such as why I chose to depict that specific location—and I even landed a few art commissions. It was a fantastic experience, and now I look forward to working on future pieces to continue growing as an artist. I hope you enjoyed hearing about this experience, and I hope to return very soon.
