SpaceX, Cold, Cat, Apples, Medicine Cabinet, Dentist, 3DP - Monday

Woke up in time yesterday morning to watch the Starship launch. It was pretty damn cool to see the Pez dispenser, (their name for it) that popped out the V3 Starlink satellites one at a time from a port in the side of the ship. Each one will add a TB of bandwidth and they said this one batch of 26 adds as much bandwidth as 20 Falcon 9 launches.

It was also our first freeze of the season. 30F as dawn broke and it took a while to warm up after the sun rose. Managed to not lose anything around the farm in the cold. At least that I could tell later in the day.

Took the boys to school then when I got home the cat had nestled down in the middle of the couch. The first time I have seen her there. She is slowly getting more used to the house and is beginning to jump up onto chairs and the couches.

The "landing" of the Starship was awesome. The onboard cameras showed it all and as the ship rotated to touch down in the Pacific like it would land on the land the camera suddenly was in the ocean. THEN the hing fell over on its side and exploded in grand fashion. It got nearly 2 orbits, the first time a Starship has made it to orbit.

Mid morning I went out and picked a basket of apples from the tree by the creek. They are a bit bug addled but not horribly. In the process I managed to get my glasses pulled off my head where I had them on my hat and didn't realize until back in the house so had to go search for them, but found them finally.

The new medicine cabinet arrived and I got it put together before heading into my dentist appointment. Got the temp bridge put in and my permanent will be ready next week. My mouth is still sore this morning from the work but the temp is actually pretty good.

I was home for a short while after the appointment then picked J up after practice. I then was able to manage mounting the cabinet in the bathroom. It is a good bit bigger than the old one and is all mirror on the front. The built in lights are pretty nifty and it makes the tiny bathroom seem a bit bigger.

I got dinner made and had the handyball game on while I had the printer working on a shelf for the cabinet.

I got the 2 shelves printed for the sides as it's 8" wide, but the middle is 13" wide so will have to make a shelf from wood to fit.

What a difference a day makes, it's 48F this morning... Boys to school in a bit, then my weekly session, then need to get a ride in, work in the garden and around the house, J has another xc meet this afternoon, R starts STEM club soon, and then will come up with something for dinner this evening.

  • The launch was magnificent. I was trying to imagine the cost savings of one Starship payload deployment vs. twenty Falcon 9 launches, it would have to be fairly significant. I plan on seeing a launch in person in 2027. Hopefully I can make that happen.
