La inspiración para hacerla fue un reto con una palabra y ésta era "ángel", debía tomar una interpretación de la misma así que decidí inspirarme en una canción de la banda President que se llama Angel Wings, asimismo tome inspiración de los angeles que ponen en las lápidas en los cementerios y para darle un toque más etéreo decidí pintarla con acuarelas. Para realizar el proceso, como siempre, me desconecté y estuve pintando sin parar con mucha buena música que me ayudó a conseguir el resultado final. Hello, my creative friends on Hive! I hope you’re all doing great. Today I’m sharing my painting process with you. The inspiration for this piece came from a one-word challenge, and the word was “angel.” I had to come up with my own interpretation of it, so I decided to draw inspiration from a song by the band President called “Angel Wings.” I also drew inspiration from the angels you see on gravestones in cemeteries, and to give it a more ethereal touch, I decided to paint it with watercolors. To carry out the process, as always, I tuned out and painted nonstop while listening to lots of great music, which helped me achieve the final result. Materiales/Materials
- Lo que utilicé para realizar esta pintura en tradicional fue una hoja blanca, un lápiz, acuarelas, un borrador moldeable, un lapicero negro y un corrector líquido blanco (Liquid Paper).
To create this traditional painting, I used a white sheet of paper, a pencil, watercolors, a kneaded eraser, a black pen, and white liquid corrector (Liquid Paper).
✨Paso a paso/ Step by Step✨
Comencé realizando el boceto en la hoja, el mismo fue bastante rápido ya que no quería llenar la hoja de detalles con lapiz sino irlos realizando con las acuarelas a medida que avanzaba, cuando termine el boceto lo borré para evitar manchar los colores y comencé a aplicar capaz de acuarela. Para la paleta de colores seleccione tonos azules y verdosos fríos para poder generar esta aura misteriosa en la imagen. El proceso con las acuarelas es hacer capas y también ir de claros a oscuros, por ello hay unas zonas que quedaron con el tono de la hoja ya que iban a ser los puntos más iluminados en la figura. Para los pliegues fui oscureciendo capa por capa con una mezcla de azul con negro.
I started by sketching on the paper; it went pretty quickly since I didn’t want to fill the page with pencil details but rather add them with watercolors as I went along. When I finished the sketch, I erased it to avoid smudging the colors and began applying layers of watercolor. For the color palette, I chose cool blue and greenish tones to create a mysterious aura in the image. The process with watercolors involves building up layers and working from light to dark; that’s why some areas retained the natural color of the paper, as they were meant to be the brightest spots in the figure. For the folds, I darkened them layer by layer using a mixture of blue and black.
Continúe haciendo capas con la acuarela, para las alas use la forma de mi pincel para hacer cada pluma, primero como manchas y luego las defini con tonos más oscuros. Tanto en el rostro como en las manos agregué líneas negras que reflejan las manchas de lluvia o tierra que se van regando en las estatuas cuando han pasado muchos años. Para el fondo realice una mezcla de azul y morado para acompañar la estética del ángel y agregué algunas líneas simulando las ramas de los árboles que no tienen hojas. Con un pincel de brocha ancha esparci el tono azul por todo el dibujo para que toda la pintura tuviera este aspecto como si tuviera un filtro. Con un pincel delgado delinee la forma del ángel para hacerlo más pronunciado e hice otros detalles tanto en las alas como en el rostro y manos.
Continue layering with watercolor; for the wings, use the shape of my brush to create each feather, first as spots and then defining them with darker shades. On both the face and the hands, I added black lines that reflect the rain or dirt stains that have spread across the statues over the years. For the background, I mixed blue and purple to complement the angel’s aesthetic and added some lines to simulate the branches of leafless trees. With a wide brush, I spread the blue tone throughout the drawing so that the entire painting would have a filtered look. Using a fine brush, I outlined the angel’s shape to make it stand out more clearly and added further details to the wings, face, and hands.
Este es el resultado del dibujo, para terminarlo realice algunos detalles en las alas y en la atmósfera, resaltando zonas y colocando más capas para tener más saturación de los tonos. Esta pintura fue algo completamente alejado de lo que normalmente hago que son los retratos y aún así la pasé muy bien haciéndolo, pintar con acuarelas es complicado ya que hay que tener paciencia para que las capas puedan secar bien y continuar agregando más y más color. Sin embargo, siempre he disfrutado de pintar sin importar el medio que esté utilizando, así que, este reto fue bastante divertido y el resultado valió completamente la pena la espera y la paciencia que invertí en ella. This is the final result of the drawing. To finish it, I added some details to the wings and the background, highlighting certain areas and adding more layers to increase the saturation of the colors. This painting was something completely different from what I usually do—which is portraits—and yet I had a great time working on it. Painting with watercolors is tricky because you have to be patient so the layers can dry properly before you can keep adding more and more color. However, I’ve always enjoyed painting no matter what medium I’m using, so this challenge was quite fun, and the result was completely worth the wait and the patience I put into it.
