Espero se encuentren muy bien, el día de hoy les traigo el proceso de pintura que fue un encargo para un amigo, después de estar bajo bastante presión por la universidad y todo lo que ha estado ocurriendo en el país y muchas otras situaciones personales. Sin embargo, este encargo fue algo que me ayudó a drenar bastante y el cual tuvo un proceso bastante disfrutable, a pesar de que se me dificultó pintar lobos, y además tuve la oportunidad de hacerlo en un lienzo, tenía mucho tiempo sin usar este medio y fue un poco difícil pero valió la pena todo el esfuerzo cuando vi el resultado final. Hello, my creative friends on Hive! I hope you’re all doing great. Today I’m sharing the painting process for a commission I did for a friend, after being under a lot of pressure from college, everything that’s been happening in the country, and many other personal issues. However, this commission was something that really helped me unwind, and the process was quite enjoyable—even though I found it challenging to paint wolves. I also had the chance to work on canvas; it had been a long time since I’d used this medium, so it was a bit difficult, but it was worth all the effort when I saw the final result. Materiales/Materials
- Lo que utilicé para realizar esta pintura en tradicional fue un lienzo el cual le pasé por encima una lija para que la pintura de adheriera mejor, un lápiz de carboncillo, un borrador moldeable, pintura acrílica y un corrector líquido blanco.
- To create this painting in the traditional style, I used a canvas, which I sanded with sandpaper so the paint would adhere better, a charcoal pencil, modeling clay eraser, acrylic paint, and white liquid corrector.
✨Paso a paso/ Step by Step✨
Comencé realizando el boceto en el lienzo, luego de lijar el cuadro, con un lápiz de carboncillo ya que así sería más fácil luego removerlo y evitar que se mezclara con la pintura. Realicé tres cabezas de lobo aullando hacia la luna y al tener el boceto terminado le pase el borrador moldeable para quitar el exceso del carboncillo y ya al tener el boceto listo y sabiendo donde iba a colocar cada tono. Comencé a pintar la atmósfera con tonos azules, para este cuadro quería agregar tonos violetas pero no tenía pintura roja para realizarlos así que los tonos y la paleta de color sería azul. Igualmente para los lobos comencé de claros a oscuros para ir construyendo el pelaje y su forma, así como también la estructura de la luna formando poco a poco los cráteres y las manchas.
I started by sketching on the canvas—after sanding it down—with a charcoal pencil, since that would make it easier to remove later and prevent it from mixing with the paint. I sketched three wolves howling at the moon, and once the sketch was finished, I used a kneaded eraser to remove the excess charcoal. With the sketch complete and knowing where I would place each shade, I began painting the atmosphere with shades of blue. For this painting, I wanted to add shades of violet, but I didn’t have any red paint to create them, so the tones and color palette would be blue. Similarly, for the wolves, I started from light to dark to build up their fur and shape, as well as the structure of the moon, gradually forming the craters and spots.
Mientras construía el pelaje me di cuenta que no es tan fácil pintar pelaje, es más complicado que usar colores porque con la pintura no hay tanto control de las formas y los mechones. Al tener todo los tonos claros y medios comencé a agregar a la pintura azul un poco de pintura negra. También hice con el corrector líquido el pelaje como si tuviera el reflejo de la luna y fui construyendo los detalles más pequeños como los ojos, los colmillos, las narices y las orejas. Para la atmósfera también fui aclarandolo con diferentes tonos de azul.
While I was painting the fur, I realized that it’s not that easy to paint fur—it’s more complicated than using colors because with paint, you don’t have as much control over the shapes and tufts. Since all the tones were light and medium, I started adding a little black paint to the blue. I also used liquid corrector to make the fur look as if it were reflecting the moonlight, and I gradually added the smaller details, such as the eyes, fangs, noses, and ears. To enhance the atmosphere, I also lightened it with different shades of blue.
Para realizar las estrellas a su alrededor coloque unas hojas blancas que recorte para evitar que los lobos se marcharán, use un cepillo de dientes que no usaba y pintura blanca, a la pintura le coloque agua y lo hice con una consistencia más líquida y ya con la mezcla más manejable usé el cepillo para rociar pintura alrededor de la luna y los lobos creando una atmósfera de una noche estrellada. Con un pincel delgado hice algunas estrellas en la luna y en el cielo.
To create the stars around it, place some white sheets of paper that you’ve cut out to keep the wolves from wandering off. Use an old toothbrush and white paint; I added water to the paint to make it more liquid, and once the mixture was easier to work with, I used the toothbrush to splatter paint around the moon and the wolves, creating the atmosphere of a starry night. With a fine-tipped brush, I painted some stars on the moon and in the sky.
Este es el resultado del dibujo, para terminar el dibujo perfeccione las estrellas y el pelaje de los lobos, aunque fue difícil hacerlos pude tener un resultado bastante decente y siendo mi primera vez pues estoy bastante satisfecha a pesar de que me costó hacerlos. Al finalizar el cuadro coloqué en la parte de atrás las medidas, la fecha y mi firma y también la agregué en el dibujo. Me gusta que el dibujo tenga un estilo muy típico de los 2016, cuando salió esa estética del universo, las estrellas y las galaxias. Me encantó el resultado y fue una grata experiencia hacer una pintura en un lienzo, además al entregarlo tuve una respuesta muy positiva así que quedé más que satisfecha con este trabajo ❤️✨
This is the finished drawing. To complete it, I refined the stars and the wolves’ fur; although it was difficult to get them right, I managed to achieve a pretty decent result. Since this was my first time, I’m quite satisfied even though it was a challenge. When I finished the painting, I wrote the dimensions, the date, and my signature on the back, and I also included them in the drawing. I like that the drawing has a style very typical of 2016, when that aesthetic of the universe, stars, and galaxies was all the rage. I loved the result, and it was a wonderful experience to paint on canvas. Plus, when I handed it in, I got a very positive response, so I was more than satisfied with this piece ❤️✨
