On Saturday morning I was up at 5:30AM and got my post up. I went out and made some tea and sat down for a while.

I like this flavor in my tea in place of cream and sugar and it means I get some protein in the morning.

I got the dehydrator emptied and got ¾ of a quart of loosely packed Swiss chard and topped up the parsley quart.

Never did get into the sun…
I puttered around a little but mostly sat and waited for the grass to dry. It was 11:30AM when I finally got off my butt and went out to mow. I did have to do up at the barn and I finished around 3PM.

The fairy as dusk falls over the New Herb garden
Tom called about 5PM and planned to come out and do the foliar until it got dark.

I went out as dusk fell to get some photos. I noticed a large area of yellow flowers and it didn’t look like the usual goldenrod. Turns out it is a variety of goldenrod and somehow it got started in the wildflowers this year.
So I went into the front pasture to get a comparison photo.

Next I went to get photos of the pumpkins that had colored up. Tom and I had found a lot of them in our walk around.

There’s been no shortage of white pumpkins, ever. But I did want some color without buying it, again.

The nicotiana are a night flowering plant and Tom and I stopped to check out the scent. In the dusk, it had gotten pretty pungent but pleasant. He had gotten a good photo of the artichoke flower with the sun coming through. I hadn’t managed it with my old camera.

Dusk in late summer
Tom finished in the dark, around 7:45PM. I got the house shut up because it’s supposed to rain through the night and Sunday morning, into the afternoon.
My brother came home from the car show that all 3 brothers had gone to. He had won best of class and had a huge trophy! They had a grand time talking with other car buffs and it was a beautiful day.
On Sunday my 2 brothers and I are going out for breakfast and then I’m not sure if my youngest brother is going to the fair due to the rain. There’s no special event I want to see, so we will mostly wander through the livestock areas and the Roundhouse and the smaller buildings until the rain quits. I do want to ride the Ferris wheel but my older brother won’t. In that case, there’s usually a small child whose parents don’t want to and so they sit with me.
It would have been our 52nd anniversary.
