It rained all night Sunday night and on Monday morning, I didn’t have “bloody” pumpkins anymore. The ghost pepper sauce had washed off. I’m hoping it soaked into the skin some, but if not, there’s plenty more of the sauce.
On Monday I was up by 5AM and worked on my photos and post. I didn’t realize it, but the battery in my main clock is dying and the clock was 20 minutes slow. When I stopped at what I thought was 7:30AM to get ready for my #2 intern at 8AM, I found out I was running really late.
But it turns out she was too. My mulch hay guy had called to say he was bringing 20 more bales for the barn. So I got busy emptying out all the discarded food containers so it could go to compost. I almost got that finished and we headed up to the barn. He was running late too and we didn’t finish with the hay until 9:30AM.
We went back to the house and decided to finish the discarded food job as we’d be too tired after. Then we headed to the back 40 to finish the tree line on the north side. It was 10AM, 2 hours later than I had hoped to start.
Tom took these photos with his drone in July 2020. These are all the pastures I’ve been walking.
I was really tired and got all the shrubs and trees cut away from the fence. I tried to do the picking up of branches but the bending was too much. So I took over the fence repair and my #2 intern did the rest of the branch walking job.
I finished before she did so I went to the house after putting everything away and got my double shower. She came up when I was halfway through and then she got hers. She also washed down all door handles and things in the truck. Then she headed out.
I had to sit for an hour before I could get up to make some lunch. I was in bed by 2PM and slept like the dead until 4PM.
When I got up, I finished my post, made supper, and got a load in the dishwasher. I headed to bed about 8:15PM but couldn’t get to sleep until 10PM. It was to be a cool night, in the 50’s and to start raining on Tuesday for most of the day.
The mulch hay guy is supposed to come mow all the pastures in the morning. He has a cab on his tractor.
I will be running load after load of food storage containers through the dishwasher. I also have laundry to do. That ought to keep me sorta busy for the day.
My helper friend will be here mid morning and he has errands to run, chores to do, tomatoes to take to the Survival center, and I’m going to have him make parsnip chowder and corn bread for supper.
I was going to have him get a soil sample from the Small garden but I can’t now it’s raining. So maybe we will start the sorting of the freezers. The iffy one is still not working properly.
