Skipping the Metal for Some Reggae for My Three Tune Tuesday This Week

Oh, it's Wednesday already? I seriously have to set an alarm and remind myself that #ThreeTuneTuesday is every Tuesday!

This week I wasn't really that busy. I finished writing lessons last weekend, but still haven't listened to the entries for TTT. I kinda want to listen to all of them in one go 'coz I scrobble them, too, and I noticed some aren't writing their entries yet. So, yeah, I'm waiting...

I honestly don't know what songs to share for this week. I was thinking of ACDC, but I can't seem to find any connection to their songs recently, so I'm going to listen to my gut' coz I have been listening to reggae since last week!!

I suddenly recalled a trip to Boracay last June and remembered hearing reggae everywhere from sunrise to sunset. I hope you can visit the place too, it's one of the best beaches in my country. But try to avoid peak seasons such as Christmas and Easter as most families spend the holidays there...not to mention the prices of hotels skyrocketing (highway robbers.)

It's really nice to walk by the beach before sunrise while you hear reggae songs from shops or restaurants everywhere.. laid back, free, rhythmic music that's good for our mind and soul.

So yeah, let's take a break from metal! No, I'm not going for Doja Cat, thankfully, my brain was able to get over that.

Let's talk about reggae this week. Some people might be surprised, but I do listen to all kinds of genres, in fact i listen to classicals, too..

So let's go, but first a shout out to @ablaze man, we're still here.

There's a Reward- Joe Higgs

Let's start the list with the father of reggae. To be honest, I didn't know him. Do I like the song? Um, it's just okay, but let's give this man the credit he deserves, while searching the internet, I learned he is Bob's mentor. Makes me wonder why he was unrecognized, so if you know, mind sharing something about him?

Baby, I Love Your Way - Big Mountain

Who doesn't know this song?

I don't want to add any internet details, aside from the fact that I'm lazy to open another browser, you can just do that yourself, lol, and most of you aren't even interested in that anyway, so yeah.

But for this song introduced me to Reggae, one of the best reggae songs.

Never Fear (Soldiers We Rise) — Icon Reggae

This is actually a standalone album, I'm juz not sure. It's a kind of roots reggae, a spiritual and socially conscious subgenre of reggae music from Jamaica. This song is so good ...it was played many times while we were in a bar in Boracay, and I understand why the DJ kept it on repeat 'coz I am repping that replay button, too. So good!

A little story about that slang "raping the replay button" ('coz you know Gen Zs thought it sounded cool) raping is different from repping. It means hitting the replay button many times. I feel the need to correct that 'coz raping is actually an offensive word we don't get to normalize in the name of being cool.

Okay swerving back..

It's an underrrated reggae song. So sad people don't get to appreciate this beautiful music.

I didn't choose "No Woman, No Cry" hard pass to Bob Marley, not because I'm an extreme feminist,lol.. but because having 12 children with different women clearly shows he likes women, and you know I'm not lying...

I'm just kidding! I like his songs too, but yeah, I'd swerve on him. "No woman, no cry," huh?

So there you go, I hope you like reggae too.

I have been writing something.. it's fiction. I already let my students see it, and some of my co teachers too. I'm not quite a writer, so I am open to criticism.

Most of my co teachers suggested a lot of things to add flavor to the story, but you know, I am not trying to make it flavorful...it's dark, the story is actually dark. So maybe I will be posting that soon, too. Please have mercy on me on this one, lol!

So yeah...

Please finish your TTT entries so i can scrobble them.. NOW!

I will def meet you in there..

Ellie 💕

I love, love, love reggae, roots, rocksteady, calpso, dub, whatever - it's my Saturday morning happy music. We also have a couple of really good reggae slots on our alt Melbourne radio stations which I love tuning into and we have a lot of reggae on vinyl as well. Whilst Marley was a complete legend there are a heap of other amazing artists that have stood the test of time.

Reggae is always medicine for the soul! Swapping the intensity of metal for these relaxed Caribbean rhythms was awesome. Keep the good vibes going for your week

Reggae sounds like a great choice! 🎶 Sometimes we just have to follow our mood and let the music guide us. Looking forward to your picks this week! 😊
