Splinterlands: Using Corsair Bosun for the first time in a while

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Corsair Bosun.

Featured cards

image.png Corsair Bosun is a life splinter that costs 10 mana. This splinter starts with the reach and deflect ability. Leveling up this card gives it cleanse at level 5. It's a very powerful backup tank with decent attack and stats.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Outsider. This means that one wild unit can be used. There is also 36 mana available, and I can use fire, life, or dragon [splinter](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splinter).
Splinter Mana Cost Position Reason
Avina of the Wolf 5 Summoner +2 speed or heal
Mantaroth 11 1st Shield and Armored Strike
Corsair Bosun 10 2nd Reach and Deflect
Janni Rebel 9 3rd Inspir
Frigid Wolf 1 4th Charge
Total Mana: 36

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Avina of the Wolf for the tank on one monster. My tank is Mantaroth with shield and armored strike, followed by Corsair Bosun. Next up is Janni Rebel with inspire and Frigid Wolf with charge. Janni will increase my damage while Mantaroth stays alive with the heal.

Round 1

round 1.png At first glance, I think that this match is my win because I have heal on Mantaroth, and my damage is quite high due to Janni. I can outdamage my opponent so long as I don't miss.

Round 6

round 6.png A few rounds later, my opponent is down to 2 monsters while I have all of mine. My heal will keep Mantaroth alive so there is no way for me to lose.

conclusion.png I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. My plan to use Mantaroth as a tank with heal worked well, and Janni increased my melee damage. Corsair Bosun was my fastest monster, and with its high damage, I was able to deal quite a bit of damage against my opponent.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The sustain by Mantaroth plays a big role in the battle

Bringing Corsair Bosun as the Outsider is a great choice with its damage and reach ability !HBIT

The deflect ability of the BonSOIR is honestly great, its the one card I actually wished I had, but unfortunately I couldn't get it. I lost against it a lot of times, great card, good win too.
