A lot of heat!

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but this change in the weather is really throwing me for a loop. It’s already spring, yet we didn’t really have a winter this year; now we’re getting days with blazing sun and heat that at least to me feels unusual for this time of year. Here in Peru, SENAMHI (the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service) has reported that coastal temperatures this spring will be higher than usual especially along the northern coast due mainly to elevated sea temperatures linked to "El Niño Costero" phenomenon.

So, there’s an explanation for the heat we’ve been feeling. All I know is that lately, heading out means thinking twice about what to wear, seeking out shade, and remembering that sunscreen is no longer optional (though, to be fair, it never really was). Trujillo might be known as the "City of Eternal Spring," but lately, it feels like someone decided to fast-forward straight into summer. On my way home today, I took advantage of the heat to grab some leche de tigre a sort of stripped-down ceviche and it was incredibly refreshing.
