This microfiction story is for the prompt "secret file". When I think of the prompt, I'm reminded of information that an individual doesn't want exposed for any number of reasons. The exposure would most likely cause irreparable damage to the individual. I based my flash fiction story along those lines. A ZAPFIC50 story is told in exactly 50 words. Below is my story.
With weary muscles, Armando dug relentlessly until hitting metal.
Shocked, the safe containing a secret file he'd plotted for months to recover had already been tampered with.
He closed and sealed the hole.
Returning home, he paced nervously, waiting.
Police or extortionist.
Regardless, he'd suffer catastrophic reputational and business damage.
