My mother recently celebrated her 71st birthday. Unlike last year, when we celebrated with our friends and neighbors and had a little party, we decided to keep things simple this time.
Since my brother and I are the only ones with her here in Leyte, we celebrated with just the three of us. We let our mother choose how she wanted to spend her special day. We even asked her if she wanted to have a bigger celebration, but she said she would rather have a simple and intimate celebration with just the three of us this year.
So, we decided to have our birthday dinner at a restaurant in Inopacan, the next town from where we live. It has always been one of our favorite restaurants because they serve delicious Filipino cuisine.
There are actually many restaurants in Inopacan, and some of them offer beautiful views and a more scenic dining experience. However, when it comes to the taste and flavor of the food, we still prefer this particular restaurant. For us, good food matters most, and this place never disappoints when it comes to authentic and flavorful Filipino dishes.
This time, we chose our favorite food over a fancy view, making Mom’s 71st birthday celebration simple, delicious, and meaningful.
After dinner, we were already very full, so instead of going straight home, we decided to take a relaxing walk along the Inopacan Baywalk. I had previously featured this beautiful baywalk here on Hive, and it has always been one of our favorite places to visit after having dinner in this area.
In fact, this has become a little tradition for my mother and us. Whenever we have dinner at this restaurant, we usually take a leisurely walk along the baywalk and spend some time at the park. Since it was Sunday, the park was lively, with many children enjoying themselves at the playground. The whole place had such a cheerful and vibrant atmosphere.
After our walk, we stayed at the baywalk for a little while, simply enjoying the cool breeze and the peaceful view. It was the perfect way to end our simple birthday celebration.
Mom’s 71st birthday may not have been a big celebration like last year, but it was filled with something more important, quality time together. Just the three of us, good food, a relaxing walk, and simple moments that we will surely remember. Sometimes, we don’t need a grand party to make a special day meaningful. Being together with the people we love is already more than enough.
