Finally, Our Winged Beans and Tomatoes Are Now Producing Fruits!

Happy Friday Hivers!

This is my first time posting in this community, the community for Gardeners. I hope everyone is doing well and that your plants are growing healthy and strong. May your gardens continue to flourish and bring you happiness!

It has been seven months since my mother and I started gardening. When we first began, we planted only a few vegetable plants. One of them was tomatoes, but unfortunately, our tomato plants did not produce any fruit. They would flower, but the flowers would eventually wither and die without developing into tomatoes.

I felt sad at that time because all our efforts seemed to have gone to waste. However, my mother and I did not give up. We continued gardening and decided to plant tomatoes again.

Now, we are so happy because, on our second attempt, our tomato plants have finally started bearing fruit! Seeing those tiny tomato fruits growing on our plants makes all our efforts worthwhile. It may seem like a small achievement, but for us, it is a wonderful reward for our patience and perseverance.

This time, my mother and I have added more vegetable plants to our garden. One of the vegetables we planted is winged beans. Actually, this is our first time growing them. The seeds came from my uncle, who is a farmer. He gave them to us when we visited him.

Honestly, I felt disappointed yesterday morning. Our winged bean plants already had many flowers, but when I checked them, I noticed that two flowers had withered and died. I immediately thought that perhaps the plants would only produce flowers without bearing any fruit. I had the same experience with our tomato plants before, so I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

This morning, I didn't even bother checking the winged beans. A few minutes after we arrived at the garden, my mother called me and excitedly shouted that our winged beans already had fruits! At first, I didn't believe her. I wondered how that could be possible when some flowers had already withered, while others didn't seem to have developed into fruits yet.

Curious, I went closer to see for myself. I was shocked when I saw the little winged beans growing on the plants! I couldn't help asking myself how they had grown so quickly when I had only noticed the withered flowers yesterday morning. It was our first time growing winged beans, so we were still learning about how they grow and produce fruits. Seeing them finally bear fruit was such a wonderful surprise!

Sometimes, nature surprises us when we least expect it. Just when I thought our winged beans would only produce flowers, they proved me wrong. This experience reminded me that every plant has its own characteristics and way of growing. We need to understand the plants we grow so we can learn what to expect and how to care for them properly.

Plants are a little like people. We all have different characteristics, and we grow and develop at our own pace. Gardening teaches us to be patient, to keep learning, and not to lose hope too quickly. Sometimes, what we think is a failure is just part of the process. We may not always understand what is happening, but if we give things time and continue caring for them, we might be surprised by the results.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

  • Great looking results @kellyane It's so satisfying to grow our own fruit and vegetables, my growing season in Western Canada is ending with the approaching winter. I'm preparing for next spring with bulb plantings, composting, and picked the remaining beans, tomatoes, garlic and potatoes. I wish I had a better climate to grow a wider variety. ❤️
