Straight to the Moon (Artemis Launch video)

Maybe not the HIVE prices going to the moon yet, but I was able to capture some poor quality video of the Artemis II launch yesterday as it heads for the around the moon trip this week. We are lucky enough to live only about an hour and a half away, so these are views from my front yard, no travel required :)

I was able to capture a few decent still frames from the video. This was my favorite, seeing the booster rocket separation.

And here is the poor quality video. I was definitely struggling with focus and positioning, it seems this was a slightly different angle for me than the starlink launches, and I was trying to get away from the street light pole. Good lessons learned for the next attempt!

Let's hope they drag the Hive prices along to the moon with them! All photos / video original work by the author of this post. Shot with Sony A7RIV and 200-600mm zoom lens, tripod with lots of user motion.

I had the privilege of watching it on YouTube in real time!, Are you going birdwatching this summer? Why not put a hummingbird feeder in your garden to attract some hummingbirds?

Shoot a flying rocket at such a distance and manually? I wouldn't have half of what you have :-)

Auto focus can be magical at times and then a huge pain in the butt at other times. Nice shots and video. I remember when I was a kid and we were down in Florida we got to see a space shuttle launch I think.
