Gemini_Generated_Image_ghxroaghxroaghxr.jpg Hi everyone in the community. How’s your week going?

Today I wanted to stop by to vent a little and, while I’m at it, tell you how it went for me playing Splinterlands. Specifically, I’ve been really grinding through the Waur Medge Academy tutorial, and boy, did it give me a headache. I honestly thought the tutorials were going to be a walk in the park, but I was wrong.

The Chapter 8 Wall

CAP(.jpg

If you’ve played this, you probably know what I’m talking about. I was stuck on Chapter 8 for quite a while. I’d try a combination, lose; switch cards, lose again. The mana limit capped at 20 points had me racking my brain to the max.

I made every possible beginner’s mistake: I’d put melee cards in the back where they did nothing, or I’d choose the wrong positions. There was a moment when I actually closed the game in frustration, thinking, “Well, this isn’t for me.”

But you know how it goes—you take a break, clear your head, and come back with a fresh perspective. I analyzed the stats more carefully, realized that Veces Ayer Caballero, with his armor, absolutely had to go up front as a shield, and it finally worked. When I saw the green “CHAPTER COMPLETE” screen, I let out a huge sigh of relief.

The Momentum of Chapters 9 and 10

CAP9.jpg

After breaking through that mental block, the rest went much more smoothly:

Chapter 9 was a breather with more mana available. I put together a Death team led by Thalgrimore, accompanied by the Black Widow and Captain Nim of the Guard, and breezed through it. It was such a joy to watch them advance!

Chapter 10 came with a catch: the “Noxious Fumes” rule, where all units lose health each turn. Here, I had to rely on Aurelia to gain a little extra health and put the Fearsome Tafarian on the front lines to take the hits.

It was an intense game of endurance, but the strategy paid off, and I managed to overcome this challenge as well.

What have I learned from all this?

Patience is vital in card games: If something isn’t working, rearrange your units’ positions instead of keep trying the same thing. Read the map’s combat rules: Poison or a mana limit forces you to improvise no matter what. I’m going to keep moving forward through the next chapters of the academy to see how I do—wish me luck.

  • ¡Enhorabuena!
