Argentina - A day walking around Puerto Iguazú with my dad: visiting the Three Borders Landmark. 😃❤️

As part of our relaxed itinerary while visiting Iguazu Falls, my dad and I were able to do several things without having to rush around. We were only halfway through the week, and I felt happy and full of energy because everything was going according to plan. We had already visited Iguaçu National Park, which was the main attraction, but we still had plenty left to do. One of those things was visiting the park on the Argentine side of the falls, but before that, I wanted us to explore a little of the area around Puerto Iguazú, in Argentina 😃.

My original idea for the trip was to stay in Puerto Iguazú, the city near the Argentine side of the falls. That’s what I had done on my two previous visits, but then I thought it might be better to stay in Foz do Iguaçu, the equivalent city on the Brazilian side. I’m always looking for ways to do something different when I travel, and this was the part of the trip that fulfilled that goal. However, I didn’t want my dad to miss out on seeing Puerto Iguazú, so we set aside one day of our itinerary to go there.

Since we had spent two days in a row getting up very early to go to Iguaçu National Park, on the fourth day of our trip we decided to sleep in. After a hectic journey, it’s always good to slow down a little so we don’t feel like we’re constantly rushing around. We both slept well, and at noon, we took a bus from the Foz bus station to Puerto Iguazú, a journey that took almost an hour. Once again, we had been blessed with a beautiful, sunny day, and of course, it was also hot and humid.

The city of Puerto Iguazú isn’t that big, so half a day is more than enough to explore its commercial center and visit the most important attraction: the Triple Frontier landmark. When we arrived in Puerto, the first thing my dad and I did was go out for lunch—we were absolutely starving. After several days of having lunch for $15 or less each, we were both brought back to the reality of prices in Argentina, and lunch ended up costing us more than $25. That’s when we were really glad we had chosen to stay in Foz; otherwise, we would have spent a fortune eating out.

After lunch, we headed to the famous Triple Frontier landmark. This is a place you absolutely have to visit during your stay in Puerto Iguazú, at least once. It’s a viewpoint where the Iguazú and Paraná Rivers meet, offering views of Brazil, Paraguay, and, where you’re standing, Argentina. All three countries have a viewpoint looking toward the neighboring countries, and my dad and I wanted to visit the one in Brazil, but it was closed when we were there. That was another reason I wanted to visit Puerto Iguazú, so we wouldn’t miss out on this attraction. From there, we could see the giant Ferris wheel in Foz that we had ridden a few days earlier—it was bigger than we had thought 😃.

Our trip to Puerto Iguazú was a peaceful one, even though the heat never let up. At one point, while we were visiting the viewpoint, a brief shower started, but the rain evaporated almost instantly as soon as it hit the ground. It really showed just how high the temperatures can get in the area, as well as how much of a microclimate there can be: it rained for ten minutes and then it was over. Visiting this place was a relaxing addition to our itinerary, even though we walked about forty blocks there and back to the bus terminal. Exercise is never missing from my trips, and my dad knows that very well 😂.

It's cute how you and your dad bond well when it comes to travelling. I miss my dad, as he also joined me on his journey before. 🥹 It's just the two of us, like a date between a father and daughter. Enjoy your trip!!

    Good morning, dear friend @lauramica.

It’s great that you were able to visit the falls at a leisurely pace and enjoy such beautiful natural spots.

You made a wise choice to slow down a bit, rest, and enjoy the city's summer heat.

Staying on the Brazilian side was a smart move, as prices are more affordable; it’s well known that things are more expensive in Argentina, especially in tourist areas.

The view and scenery from the Triple Frontier lookout are stunning—as you rightly said, it’s a place not to be missed when visiting the area.

It’s wonderful that your dad had the chance to experience the Argentine side as well. Beautiful photos; thank you so much for sharing another lovely adventure.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards to all your loved ones.
