Yesterday was one of those days when I got so tired that I honestly couldn’t tell which chore exhausted me the most. Was it waking up early to prepare the kids for school? Was it the endless laundry that somehow never seems to finish? Maybe it was rushing out to pick them up from school, making sure everyone got home safely, and then immediately thinking about what to prepare for dinner.
Or perhaps it was everything combined.
Sometimes motherhood doesn’t give you the opportunity to pause and ask yourself, “Am I okay?” You simply keep going.
I wake up tired, but I still get up because the children need to get ready for school. I prepare breakfast, pack lunch, find missing socks, remind someone to brush their teeth, check school bags, and somehow manage to get everyone out of the house on time.
Then, before I can even have the chance to sit down and breathe, there is laundry waiting.
There are clothes to wash, dishes to clean, floors to tidy, errands to think about, messages from school to check, and a hundred little things that somehow become my responsibility. And just when I think I can finally getting a moment to rest, it is time to pick up the children.
Then comes dinner. “What's for dinner?” is a simple question, but sometimes, after a long and stressful day, it feels like one more mountain to climb.
Yesterday, I reached that point where my body was simply saying, “Please, enough.” And this morning, I woke up feeling pain all over my body. My muscles were aching, my energy was gone, and I just wanted to stay in bed for a little while longer.
That was when I realized just how much mothers carry. Motherhood is beautiful, but it is also exhausting.
It is loving your children deeply while sometimes wishing you could have just five minutes of complete silence. It is being grateful for your family while desperately needing a break. It is putting everyone else's needs before your own and then wondering why you are completely drained at the end of the day.
And honestly, motherhood is not for the weak but I also want to remind every mother reading this, you don't always have to be strong.
It is okay to admit that you are tired, it is okay to rest, It is okay to ask for help. It is okay if the laundry waits until tomorrow. It is okay if dinner is something simple. It is okay if the house isn't perfectly clean. You are not failing because you need a break.
Sometimes, taking care of yourself is also part of taking care of your family. So today, I am giving myself permission to slow down a little, to listen to my body, to breathe, to rest when I can, and to remember that I don't have to do everything perfectly.
To every mother who is waking up tired, going to bed exhausted, and somehow finding the strength to do it all again the next day, you are doing more than you realize.
You are appreciated, even when nobody says it. You are strong, even on the days you feel weak and you are doing an amazing job.
Because motherhood may not be for the weak, but sometimes the strongest thing a mother can do is admit, “I need to rest too.”
Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
