Rejection Really Hurts, Learn How To Deal With It

Rejection is one thing I don't think anybody really enjoys. No matter how strong we try to be, it can still hurt when we put our hope into something and it doesn't work out. Sometimes, we start asking ourselves what we did wrong or whether we were simply not good enough. But with time, I have come to understand that not every rejection is actually a bad thing. Sometimes, what looks like a disappointment at first can turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

I remember one experience I had after my ND. At that time, I was looking for a job because I wanted to start doing something with myself and also gain some experience. I saw an opportunity and decided to apply for the job. I was invited for an interview, and I went there with the hope that everything would go well.

During the interview, the woman interviewing me asked me to bring something for her. I did what she asked, but I didn't kneel down before giving it to her. Apparently, that was a problem for her. After the interview, I was rejected because, according to her, I was supposed to kneel down when giving her the item, and that shows I lack respect and simple manner.

Honestly, I was disappointed because I didn't expect something like that to be the reason I wouldn't get the job. I had gone there hoping to be accepted, and being rejected over something I didn't even consider a serious issue was not easy to understand at that moment.

But instead of allowing the rejection to stop me, I continued looking for another opportunity. Interestingly, I got another chance to attend an interview the following day. I went there, and this time, I was accepted for the job.

The funny and interesting part of the story is that the second job actually came with better pay than the first one I had applied for. It was also closer to where I lived, which meant I didn't have to spend as much money on transportation. When I thought about it later, I realized that the rejection from the first job was actually a blessing in disguise.

If I had been accepted for the first job, I might have been earning less and spending more money on transportation. At the time, I saw the rejection as a bad experience, but later I became grateful that I wasn't accepted. It taught me something I still remember today, sometimes, we become too focused on the opportunity we want that we fail to see that something better might be waiting for us.

Whenever I experience rejection now, I try not to take it as the final answer. Of course, I can still feel disappointed, especially when I really wanted something. But I try to give myself time to get over it and then move forward. I ask myself what I can learn from the situation and whether there is another opportunity I can try.

I also believe that rejection doesn't mean that we are failures. Being rejected from a job doesn't mean we are not capable of working. Not being accepted somewhere doesn't mean we have no value. Sometimes, there are things happening behind the scenes that we don't understand at that particular moment.

My experience after my ND taught me this in a simple way. The job I wanted wasn't the job I eventually got, and the one I was rejected from wasn't necessarily the one that was best for me. I only understood that after getting the second opportunity.

So, when things don't go the way I hoped, I try to remind myself not to give up too quickly. A rejection can hurt, but it can also redirect us. Sometimes, a closed door is simply pushing us towards another door that we may not have noticed before.

For me, dealing with rejection is about accepting the disappointment, learning from it, and continuing to move forward. We may not always understand why something didn't work out immediately, but with time, we might look back and realize that the rejection was actually working in our favour.

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
