Whenever the holiday season comes, I often think about how I will celebrate Christmas with my family. In my opinion, Christmas is one of the most joyful times of the year as we get to come together, eat, exchange gifts, and relax in ways we don't have the time to do during a typical day.
I am most looking forward to on Christmas – is to be on Christmas Eve, and I do not even need to wait for Christmas to come. One of things I want to do is to buy presents for my families and friends. I am aware that presents are never been the most important thing of Christmas. However, I always love giving presents to the people I love. It does not need to be expensive. As long as I think it can bring the joy to them, I will be pleased with it. Sometimes, the smile on their faces is more than enough.
I am also looking forward to sharing the games I have planned for our Christmas party. Hehehe! I just want us all to have a good time, be loud, and enjoy the moment. I can already see us getting competitive over the games that will be played, some serious about winning the game, and others just enjoy making everyone laugh. Those are the moments I cherish most when I get the family together.
Of course, Christmas also requires budget planning, since there are presents to buy, food to make, and so on. It isn't always possible to afford ourselves a little too much, since there are also some obligations that have to be covered. This is why I want to be as practical as possible in my budget. I would prefer to have a simple but happy celebration than to spend all my money for the day and worry about the expenses later.
The older I get, the more I'm learning that Christmas isn't actually about the biggest gift or the biggest party. It's about the people in our lives. We all go through different struggles during the year, but just having the time to have some laughs and be happy with each other is enough.
I thank God we've made it to another Christmas. We have not been able to control everything and we've lost control along the way, but in every year we've received teaching and in every year we've received blessings.
This year, on this coming Christmas Eve, I want to be present with my family. I want to give gifts, start fun games, have dinner, and just laugh away to exhaustion. I want to make good memories that we will treasure even after the season has ended.
To me, that is the real Christmas happiness: giving, sharing and spending time with my loved ones.
