[GALERIA] POLSKIE KRAJOBRAZY I NATURA - FOTO GALERIA #11 // POLISH LANDSCAPES AND NATURE - PHOTO GALLERY #11

LIGHT & SHADOW.jpg

Pewnego dnia miałem do załatwienia kilka spraw w mieście, konkretnie w Bielsku-Białej.

Fotografia krajobrazowa to „walka” z jej kaprysami i akceptacja zasad jej gry. Gry światła i cieni.

One day, I had some errands to run in the city. Specifically in Bielsko-Biała. On my way back, while I was somewhere between Bielsko and Żywiec, the conditions began to get quite interesting.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera with me, and to put it mildly, I was furious with myself. Still, I didn’t want to miss this fascinating spectacle entirely.

I pulled over at the top of a hill along the road, struck by the beautiful light painting the valleys and distant hills. I jumped out of the car with my iPhone and snapped a few photos of the scene.

The interplay of light and shadow was uneven; most of the landscape was shrouded in shadow, but a narrow beam of light - streaming through a gap in the clouds illuminated the hill closest to me. I was completely captivated.

After taking a few shots, I continued on my way, but my photography session didn’t end there. I stopped at my usual spot in Jeleśnia to make the most of the sunset, as a thin strip of sky just above the horizon glowed with an intense, fiery orange light.

On the drive home after those final shots, I reflected on how landscape photography teaches not only patience but also the importance of always being prepared for fleeting opportunities. Mother Nature doesn’t wait, nor does she cater to our whims; she doesn’t provide perfect conditions on command. Landscape photography is a "battle" against her caprices - an acceptance of the rules of her game: the game of light and shadow.

After this experience, I decided that I should have my camera with me on trips like these.
