During my break, I got to watch some comedy movies from South Korea. Life is already bleak and so is my work, what was missing was a little comedy that turns out, to be not-so-a-comedy. You can classify The First Ride as a tragic comedy but for the first time after many months, a movie I genuinely enjoyed watching.
When it comes to South Korean movies, I don't think you should expect good acting but what you can expect is a good storyline and character development.
The movie takes us to follow the journey of 4 bestfriends, Tae-jung, Do-jin, Yeon-min, and Geum-bok. Since Tae-jun, received perfect score during the anticipated college entrance exam, he wanted some gifts from his parents. These 4 friends, decided they wanted to visit Thailand and travel there before Yeon-min moves abroad. So, the parents granted their wish and soon, we were seen the scene when they travel inside a bus. Somehow that scene was muddled and scrambled a bit.
They didn't make it to Thailand because from that at first, we saw that the bus left them at the stop. Then, as an adult, they got busy and Do-jin, one of the 4 boys was receiving treatment. Now, because the film producer made us believe that Yeon Min was already moving to New Zealand, so we thought that he was no longer in the picture as the audience. Then, the boys carried a doll looking like Young min and carried them during their adult trip to Thailand.
Long story short, it was a roller coaster ride and we'll find out the truth later. I'll let you find out because you either probably see it coming or you don't.
