The first thing we learn after reading and writing is to please others. If anyone dares to protest, oh my! They consider that person a nutcase or completely crazy. They muzzle us from childhood and forbid us from saying, “This is who I am,” because it’s considered disrespectful. However, this has no legal or judicial basis, and the most important thing in society is not to break the law—nor to violate anyone’s rights. Therefore:

“That’s just how I am”

At this age, nothing moves me or interests me anymore—so what will they say about me? A user known as @LAMOÑA@69 on TikTok says something like this in a video: “They’ll always criticize you—for what you did and what you didn’t do.” But what caught my attention—and I strongly agree with—is that he points out that what matters is learning to ‘act crazy, like an idiot, or like a slacker,’ because that’s the only thing that prepares you to take on life.”

A life and society where people are constantly preoccupied with fashion, physical appearance, and pretending to be something they’re not—especially the latest trends on social media. This is a consequence of an upbringing in which I’ve learned to compete, to put on a facade, and to prioritize physical appearance over things that are truly worthwhile, such as love, the soul, the spirit, and the heart. Perhaps some of you feel as though you’re living an unreal life and try to escape and be alone in order to find peace.

It’s not that I seek solitude all the time—that’s not the case; there are moments when I want to be by myself and enjoy nature, the ocean, and other things I love. Just like me, I know there are other people in the world who are surrounded by others but still feel alone—because they have no one to talk to, since no one understands their language or how they feel. That’s just how the world is; everyone lives their own life and doesn’t care about others. In my case, at this point, I no longer need anyone to understand me.

It’s a tongue twister; sometimes I’m alone, but I don’t feel alone. I seek moments of solitude to find balance and well-being. For me, just opening my eyes and enjoying a beautiful sunrise is like winning a game of chess. Every morning, my hopes are renewed, and it motivates me to seek out opportunities that give me reasons to keep living. I’m grateful for a new day that fills me with anticipation, blessings, and abundance.

There you have it!

Life’s Challenges and the So-Called “Crazy” e’perinola

From my point of view, one of the greatest challenges people must face is breaking down the taboos and paradigms imposed by society in order to be free; and learning to play the “crazy” “e’perinola” in order to survive. From the moment we can remember, barriers are erected to prevent us from opening our eyes to reality. Little by little, we begin to realize the restrictions imposed to limit our freedom of thought and expression.

Some decide to dance to that tune, while a few small groups refuse to go along with it and end up becoming the family’s infamous black sheep. Others spend their time meddling in other people’s lives and trying to control and manipulate them. Sometimes I just can’t understand why some people are so nosy. They spend their lives talking and criticizing and always saying negative things: This and that!

That’s why I prefer to be among the black sheep and the disheveled ones, because I say, “This is who I am, and this is just the way I am…” as Marlene used to say. Society has reserved its strictest taboos for women; just as you read it, women have been the most marginalized and mistreated. It’s been this way since the beginning of time, to put it simply.

The biggest lie is that women need men to be happy. No human being needs another person to be happy; happiness is something intrinsic and deeply personal. It’s also false that marriage is necessary to have children and start a family. You can have children, start a family, and raise your children without a man. In case you didn’t know, these days, children can also be chosen from catalogs, and there are various methods of conception, including artificial insemination or embryo implantation in the uterus.

As for sex, there are products on the market that compensate for the absence of a man and help with stimulation and achieving orgasm, such as oils and many other items. There are countless alternatives for women. In short, don’t stay stuck in the era of María Castañas; stop believing in old paradigms. Take steps to change the way you think and act—it’s better to be a little “crazy” than to wear a muzzle.

(Nathaniel Hawthorne)

A Special Challenge: Maturity in Older Adults

Of all that has been discussed, I believe that another of the most critical issues worthy of study is that of older adults. Some people say disparagingly, “That’s an old person; they’re in the autumn of their life.” However, this is not the case; being an older adult does not mean one is “written off,” as we say in my country. They still have feelings, emotions, and the maturity to continue taking on challenges. Above all, they have much to contribute to society.

Old age is not decline—this is false. Jorge Rodríguez Ariza published an article on the website elhombreylodivino.com titled “The Autumn of the World: Reflections on the Symbolism of the Ages,” in which he states the following:

The modern perspective generally views aging as a misfortune that must be delayed as long as possible. Our civilization seems to have made youth an almost absolute category…” For more information, visit aquí

What the article says is very true; from my point of view, it is unfair to try to invalidate or marginalize a person after they have contributed their labor and helped build society. I believe that becoming a senior citizen and remaining active is a great challenge in life and for human beings. Things tend to get a little more difficult, even though our minds can still function—and often better than those of many young people.

It’s not the cow’s fault; it’s society’s fault for pigeonholing and marginalizing people once they reach an age that society has decided makes them incapable—just because of their gray hair and wrinkles. If you don’t like it, I couldn’t care less; that’s just the way it is, period. No matter how hard we try to keep an open mind to stay active and do something productive, society “throws a wrench in the works” and—BAM!—brings us back to reality. However, it is we older adults who have the maturity to achieve inner peace.

Maturity is a challenge, because some people “don’t know how to handle it”—that’s what we say in my town when we don’t know much about a subject. For me, maturity is what comes from “doing good without looking at whom,” as the Venezuelan actor Miguel Ángel Landa used to say on his show “Bienvenidos.” In other words, you shouldn’t trip others up so they fall; you shouldn’t be envious or competitive, among other things.

Furthermore, you’re able to make sound decisions and solve problems because you have experience. This is something many young people don’t understand, especially in this consumerist society. Young people think they know it all, but years of experience tip the scales. We know how to do things right, to be who we want to be regardless of what the rest of the world says—and that’s what helped us grow and become better people.

Believe it or not, we’re a privileged generation—we know that inner peace is something we build, and we know it’s necessary for sleeping, relieving anxiety and stress, and balancing the “chakras.” Above all, it fills the void in the soul and allows us to achieve balance and well-being.

“When people tell me I’m too old to do something, I make sure to do it right away.” (Pablo Picasso)

(Pablo Picasso)

I believe that what really matters is to live and let others live. There’s room for all of us in the world, with our beliefs and attitudes. Each person decides whether they want to—or whether it’s in their best interest—to be a sane person or, on the contrary, to play the fool, “e’perinola.” We must stop acting as judges, pointing fingers, criticizing, questioning, and dismissing others just because they don’t think or act like us. Each person knows how to write their own story and who to let read it.

Live your life, let others live theirs, and take on your personal challenges. What society and the planet need are people willing to commit to making things better. Remember that the happiness we seek can only be found when we’re at peace with ourselves.

A hug filled with light, gold, and honey—and thank you for visiting the blog on #Hive.

It means there’s nothing left to do—no further moves or actions are possible. So the game ends. It doesn’t matter what strategy you use or what tiles you have left in your hand, because there’s no way to place them on the table anymore.

I agree that we spend too much time worrying about what others think of us. People will always have something to say no matter what we do. We really can't spend our whole lives trying to fit into what others expect from us.
