“Mexico, my beautiful and beloved country, if I die far from you…” as the famous song by composer Chucho Monge goes, immortalized by the unforgettable Jorge Negrete. It is the land of mariachis, tequila, chili peppers, and beautiful, warm-hearted people. I’m turning on my time machine to the year 1976, when I turned fifteen and my parents gave me a trip on a quinceañera tour in August of that same year. Of course, with my crazy chaperones: Mom, Grandma Bertita, and Aunt Ana.
I have such wonderful memories of this trip, where I had the chance to visit Mexico, Miami, Orlando, and Las Vegas—each with tourist attractions well worth seeing. As for Paraulata, she didn’t like the beach in Miami, where the hotel we stayed at was located. “Naguara!” she says—the beaches in San Luis are prettier, cleaner, and just as good.

My friends got lost in the hotel; I don’t know how they managed to make it to the other wing. I got a pinch from Bertita the bee for messing around. I loved Orlando, despite the relentless sun, and visiting Walt Disney World was one of the best experiences of my life. I also liked SeaWorld, the dolphins, and the whale. As for Mexico, I’m struck by how proud they are of their roots, culture, and ancestors. I’m also impressed by how they preserve their traditions.
I visited the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, the National Theater, Plaza Garibaldi, and Lake Xochimilco. Wow! I remember the ride in those little boats decorated with flowers and mariachis. I didn’t really enjoy the Pyramid of the Sun that much because the sun’s rays were very strong, and on top of that, many areas were off-limits. Above all, the stairs are very steep, so I decided to sit down and wait for the group.
Mexico is home to international singers whose musical talent has captivated the entire world. Today, I’m going to take a trip down memory lane to treat you to some Hispanic singers born in Mexico with illustrious musical careers, including Vicente Fernández, Alejandro Fernández, José José, Juan Gabriel, Armando Manzanero, Enmanuel, Marco Antonio Solís, and others. Get ready to meet these true-blue Mexicans.

“México, lindo y querido, si muero lejos de ti…” como dice la famosa canción del compositor Chucho Monge e inmortalizada en la voz del inolvidable Jorge Negrete. Es la tierra del mariachis, del tequila, del chile, de gente bonita y cálida. Enciendo mi maquina del tiempo al año 1976 cuando cumplí quince años y mis padres me regalaron un viaje en un tours de quinceañeras en el mes de agosto del mismo año. Por supuesto, con mis locas de chaperonas: Mamá, abuelita Bertita’s y tía Ana.
Tengo recuerdos muy bonitos de este viaje donde tuve la oportunidad de visitar México y Miami, Orlando y las Vegas. Cada una de ellas con atracciones turísticas dignas de visitar. A Paraulata, no le gusto la playa en Miami, donde estaba ubicado el hotel donde nos hospedamos. ¡Naguara! dice que las playas de San Luis es más bonita, limpia y no tiene nada que envidiar. ¡Muchachita, esta! Mis amiguis se perdieron en el hotel, no se como hicieron ara llegar al otra ala. Me gane un pellizco de abelita Bertita’s por andar de cambimberas. Orlando, me fascino a pesar del sol inclemente y visitar Walt Disney World es una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida. También me gusto el SeaWorld, los delfines y la ballena. En cuanto a México, me llama la atención lo orgullosos que están de sus raíces, cultura y ancestros. También de que preservan sus tradiciones. Visite la Pirámide del Sol en Teotihuacán, El Teatro Nacional, La Plaza Garibaldi y Lago de Xochimilco. ¡Wuao! recuerdo el paseo en los botecitos adornados con flores y mariachis. No disfrute mucho de la pirámide el sol, porque los rayos del astro rey estaban muy fuertes, y por otro lado, estaban restringida muchas áreas. Sobre todo, las escaleras son muy altas y decidí sentarme a esperar por el grupo. México es tierra de cantantes internacionales que han enamorado con su talento musical a todo el planeta. Hoy haré un viaje en el tiempo para deleitaros con cantantes hispanos nacidos en México y de gran trayectoria musical, entre estos encontramos a Vicente Fernández, Alejandro Fernández, José José, Juan Gabriel, Armando Manzanero, Enmanuel, Marco Antonio Solis entre otros. Prepárense a conocer a estos mexicanos de pura cepa. ¡Suénala DJ!
People say that we only take with us what we’ve experienced, and I think that’s true, because the mind stores everything—the good and the bad; at my age, my memory is still intact and remembers every moment. Today I’m turning on my time machine to travel back to August 1975 to enjoy my quinceañera trip. Believe it or not, La Paraulata puts on her mariachi outfit and sings in a shrill voice, but she ignores the audience in the gallery, and if she’s had three beers, she fights for the microphone at karaoke.

For me, one of the best performances is by Alejandro Fernández. “El Potrillo” began his artistic career at a very young age, and in 1972 he released his first album, titled “Alejandro Fernández.” Among his greatest hits are “Me dediqué a perderte,” “Como quien pierde una estrella,” and “Me hace tanto bien,” among others. A song that captures all the love for the homeland, sung by the incomparable Alejandro Fernández. “Vestido de mariachi” leaves me speechless. Oh la la.
“Vamos a platicar,” sung by the boy with the blue backpack, Pedrito Fernández. This singer is another one of my favorites. He’s skinny, but he has a powerful voice. This song was released in 1996 on the album Deseos y delirios.

Pedro is a charismatic man who really stands out. He's been stealing the show since he was a child. I love all of his songs and performances. However, “Vamos a platicar” is one of my favorites.
Juan Gabriel and the song “Yo te recuerdo.” I couldn't leave out this Mexican singer, who, in my opinion, is the greatest of all time. All of his songs were hits and have remained in the hearts of those who have heard them. This song was released in 2003 on the album Inocente de mí.

“Invéntame” and Marco Antonio Solis are my bonus track for today. This Mexican singer, known as “El Buki,” began his musical career in the 1970s. The song I’ve chosen was released in 1999 on the album Trozos de mi alma.

The album Trozos de mi alma brings back a lot of memories for me because one of my best friends used to sit there crying and drinking coffee. That's how I got to know it, and I'm totally in love with it.

Dicen por ahí que solo nos llevamos lo que hemos vivido y creo que es así, porque la mente todo lo guarda, lo bueno y lo malo; a mi edad, mi chip está intacto y recuerda cada momento. Hoy enciendo mi máquina del tiempo para llegar al mes de agosto de 1975 para disfrutar de mi viaje de quinceañera. Aunque no lo crean, La Paraulata se pone su traje de mariachi y canta con una voz chillona, pero no le hace caso al público de galería y, si tiene tres cervezas, se pelea por el micrófono en el karaoke.
