I think I'm slowly losing my patience for long movies or series, it explained why it took this long for me to finish the first season of "The Chosen". It's the first of 5 seasons so yeah, I still have a lot more to go but surprisingly, I am appreciating how slowly I'm seeing the series, one episode after the other, like taking my time.
The storyline sounded like what I knew I what to expect already as its a story based on the life of Jesus and his works while on earth. But as also expected, it went beyond what I was expecting and it wasn't in any other way but in the emotions that the characters expressed in every scene especially by Jesus who is the main character.
The first season of "The Chosen" was released in 2017 and I believe it's still ongoing as I write this but I love that I've started to see it now. It feels more like a blessing and a sign to me seeing it as I've been reading a lot about Christ in the Bible, this series brought my readings to a good picture and cinematography that I'll remember for long.
"The Chosen" is an historical epic, period, biography drama starred by Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Shahar Isaac as Simon, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene and other supporting characters that significantly contributed to the beautiful display of Christ's life on earth. The first season is a great introduction.
I think the selection of actor for the role of Jesus was well done, mere looking at him as I continued the story was peaceful and made me wonder positively how beautiful it must have been to be in the flesh with Jesus as people back then were opportune to be. Jonathan Roumie smiles and way of words were well expressed.
The role of Paras Patel as Matthew in the story is also a beautiful one to me, I never imagined how exactly the life of each disciples must have been before they decided to follow Christ. Matthew is very calculative, seem like an autistic person but well behaved and calm in standing his ground. How he leaves everything to follow Christ, cool!
The story of Nicodemus also brought lots of emotions to me, especially when he tries to heal a possessed girl called Lily. He failed and concluded it was only God who can heal and then God really came, Jesus healed her. Nicodemus who is a high priest and well respected begins to doubt everything he had ever known and taught.
Simon's story also is worthy of mention, as he had every reason to doubt God and not follow Christ but he did anyways and the way things begin to turn around even in his character, was a transforming watch for me. I really appreciate the people who came together to bring this story alive again, I think it serves as a good reminder.
I have only just seen the first season and witnessed like 5 miracles Christ did, they all made me feel something I love to feel so the plan is to continue until the end of the last season even though I'm not sure when it will be done. I'd recommend it if you're a believer or want to explore the story of Christ in a refreshing way.
