Hola comunidad de manualistas y artesanos, espero que en dónde estén se encuentren bien y sanos, junto a sus familiares, amigos y seres queridos, he estado un poco ausente por aquí desde hace unos meses,y ya ha pasado más de un mes del doblete sísmico ocurrido en Venezuela el 24 de junio del 2026, una situación que nos ha cambiado totalmente a los venezolanos la manera de ver el mundo, y que nos ha sumergido en una profunda tristeza por la perdida de tantas vidas 😔, espero de corazón que todos estén bien ,juntos a sus seres queridos y que no les falte nada. Una locura como puede una situación así cambiar la realidad en tan pocos minutos, Para distraerme un poco en medio de la situación, usé algo de los materiales que me habían quedado , foami moldeable para una idea que tenía , quería hacer algunas orquídeas que son las flores nacionales, probando que tal salían , ya que solo las había hecho una vez con el foami tradicional y no había probado con este material de Foami flexible que nunca lo había trabajado.

I wanted to make some orchids, the national flower, and see how they would turn out, since I had only made them once before with traditional foam and hadn't tried this flexible foam material...

#1 Usé dos colores de foami moldeable para hacer la tonalidad lila que tiene la flor de orquídea nacional, tenía una foto de referencia que tome en un vivero ( por cierto sabían que son tan caras las orquídeas, pregunté por una plantita de esta y salía alrededor de 100$👀), mezcle morado con rosado chicle y rosado claro , estos foamis moldeables lo conseguí en mango bajito, ,uni los colores y amase bien mezclandolos hasta tener un color lila que me gustó.

#2 Para empezar a hacer los pétalos divide la masa que tenía en tres partes o bolitas, una bolita la dividiré en tres bolitas a su vez, y las amasé hasta tener una especie de gotitas que fui alargando para darle forma a los pétalos, y luego los aplané, en la parte inferior en la forma de pétalo, la parte más ancha le dí un pliegue para darle movimiento al pétalo y lo ondulé para que quedarán con un aspecto más dinámico, y fui uniendola en el medio teniendo así la primera parte con tres pétalos.

#3 Para la estructura de los pétalos más grandes usé la segunda bolita de foami moldeable, dividiendolo en dos bolitas y luego hice dos gotas ,está vez sin alargar los pétalos ,sino haciendolos más gorditos, y aplanandolos, y en la parte inferior, le hice un pliegue, al otro pétalo intente hace otro pliegue,Pero envolviéndolo y uní ambos en el centro de la flor , estos posicionándolos de forma horizontal ,de manera que quedaría una pétalo hacia arriba, los dos más grandes de manera horizontal y los dos inferiores de manera diagonal.

#4 Para el centro de la flor, usé la última bolita de foami, tomé una 3/4 parte para no hacerla tan grande usando toda la porción de Foami, hice un medio óvalo,al que en su parte inferior lo deje recto, y aplané,luego tomé un poco de foami moldeable rosa chicle para colocar en el centro de esta pieza dejando que se viera un borde morado, y con un poco de foami amarillo amase tiras muy finitas y coloqué franjas amarillas en el centro de la pieza, luego con un poco de verde lo agregué en la parte inferior de la pieza, esto me dará un poco los matices internos del centro de la flor, luego de aplanarlo, usé la parte de superior con forma de bolita que traía uno de los palitos para modelar que tenía el paquete de Foami.

#5 Para hacer el borde ,luego pellizqué entre los dedos para hacer una especie de faralao en el borde de la pieza del centro.Envolví la parte inferior para estrecharlo, y lo uní al medio de los los pétalos, se tiene que ver cómo sí este centro de la flor saliera de los demas pétalos y se desbordara, en la parte inferior del petalo central le hice un pliegue para darle un aspecto puntiagudo.Luego amasé unos cilindros verdes para hacer hojas largar, hice dos, doblé cada uno a la mitad, y le di una forma algo picuda al final de las hojas, para luego pegarlos desde ña parte de atrás de la flor, de forma que se asomen por detras de la flor.

#6 Por último dejé que se secará un poco, (unas dos horas y luego empecé a darle otro acabado con pinturas, usé un tinta con pigmentos morados para oscurecer el centro de los pétalos,y líneas blancas en los pétalos para darle textura, a la parte interna del petalo inferior y lo que es el centro de la flor, le dí más detalles usando pequeños puntitos de pintura naranja para que se vea como los pistilos, también les di unas sobras a la hojas con verde oscuro.
Y listo este sería el resultado, hice tres, luego de que se secaron en la noche, los pegué con silicón a un cartelito de feliz cumpleaños ya que mi mamá estaba de cumpleaños y estos detallitos me sirvieron para darle un toque diferente al cartel que ya había usado anteriormente. Me gustaron como quedaron pero debo admitir que el material no me convence del todo jeje ,creo que no le gana a la porcelana fría que se enducerece inmediatamente al secarse, este es un material más suave (exactamente queda como el foami jaja) así que es delicado y al hacer mucho dobleces se rompe,por lo que es algo a tener en cuenta , debe de tener un grosor suficiente para evitar que se rompan las piezas. Igualmente quedó bonito 💜 ,espero que les guste, ustedes han usado este material?. Espero que todos estén bien 💜.

#6 Finally, I let it dry a little (about two hours) and then started adding another finish with paints. I used an ink with purple pigments to darken the center of the petals, and white lines on the petals to give them texture. On the inner part of the lower petal and the center of the flower, I added more details using small dots of orange paint to make them look like the pistils. I also added some shading to the leaves with dark green.
And that's it! This is the result. I made three. After they dried overnight, I glued them with silicone to a little "Happy Birthday" sign since it was my mom's birthday, and these little details helped me give a different touch to the sign I had used before. I liked how they turned out, but I must admit that I'm not entirely convinced by the material, haha. I don't think it's as good as cold porcelain, which hardens immediately when it dries. This is a softer material (it's exactly like craft foam). haha),So it's delicate and tears easily when folded, which is something to keep in mind; it needs to be thick enough to prevent the pieces from breaking.
