Hola comunidad de artesanos y manualistas, espero que dónde estén , estén bien tanto ustedes cómo sus familiares,hoy les comparto un post con un proyecto algo diferente, antes de que ocurriera todos los sucesos del doblete sísmico 😔 me habían pedido hacer un trabajo para una materia de cría porcina (producción de cerdos ) resulta que tenía que hacer un maqueta que representara una instalación Porcina, lo que es básicamente una granja de cría de cerdos /cochinos para el consumo de su carne , y no tenía ni idea de como hacerlo, las referencias en internet eran sobre especie de planos ilustrados pero que todos eran diferentes entre sí y no me daban específicamente lo que buscaba , un mapa que tuviera todas las divisiones según las etapas de producción Porcina, por lo que ni modo me tuve que sentar a investigar todas las etapas de la producción porcina y luego juntar todas las referencias de las granjas que conseguí y unirlos en uno solo en dónde se apreciara todas las etapas y se vieran las divisiones de la granja con sus estaciones.Aqui les dejo como fui haciendo el proceso:

Hello fellow artisans and craftspeople! I hope you and your families are all well wherever you are. Today I'm sharing a post about a slightly different project. Before the devastating earthquakes 😔, I was asked to do a project for a pig farming class. It turned out I had to make a model representing a pig farm, which is basically a pig breeding facility for meat consumption. I had no idea how to do it. The online references were mostly illustrated plans, but they were all different and didn't give me exactly what I was looking for: a map showing all the divisions according to the stages of pig production. So, I had no choice but to sit down and research all the stages of pig production and then gather all the farm references I found and combine them into one where all the stages were clearly visible.

#1 Para el primer paso busqué una lámina de anime (telgopor) que me sirviera para la base, está la reciclé de una lámina de techo razo por lo que me sirvió bastante por su grosor , usé varias pinturas acrílicas apliqué pinceladas de varios colores ,verde, amarillo, naranja ,matizando los colores para crear un fondo con un efecto de tierra /cesped. También preparé los palitos de altura que usaría como tubos, pintando los todos con pintura plateado , estos los hice tomando un poco de pintura plateada y agregándole unas gotas de pintura negra ,para que me diera un tono más oscuro con el de los cabillas o tubos metálicos,luego los dejé secar.

#1 For the first step, I looked for a sheet of polystyrene foam (Styrofoam) to use as a base. I recycled this one from a suspended ceiling panel, so its thickness worked quite well. I used several acrylic paints, applying brushstrokes of various colors—green, yellow, and orange—blending the colors to create a background with an earth/grass effect. I also prepared the wooden dowels I would use as tubes, painting them all with silver paint. I made these by taking a little silver paint and adding a few drops of black paint to give it a darker tone, matching the metal rods or tubes. Then I let them dry.

#2 Tratando de seguir el modelo de mapa que hice con la distribución hice un boceto a lápiz con las divisiones, luego corté tiras de cartulina de 2 cm de alto, y fui midiendo según las divisiones que marque en el anime, de esta manera cada tira de cartulina formaría la división para un cuartito o corral de lo que sería está instalación o granja porcina, entonces fui doblando la cartulina con la forma de cada cuadro y me asegure de marcarles unas solapas para representar las puertas ( las corte haciendo una t con un bisturí) para luego pegar estas divisiones al anime con silicón caliente. Con tiras de cartulina de 0,6 CM de grosor hice unos pequeños rectángulos y los pegue dentro de los espacios de las divisiones de cada cuarto, que serán los corralitos donde irán los cerdos, y estos rectángulos representan los comederos. Con los palitos de alturas plateados hice las estructuras metálicas de estos corrales, que usualmente tienen este aspecto insdustrial y de rejas, completé las estructuras con los palitos a modo de tubos para la estructura del corral, también como si fueran las puertas de estás divisiones, no tiene mucha ciencia más que clavar los palitos de altura en el anime y agregar un poco de silicón caliente para qué queden bien asegurados e irlos pegando entre ellos según la forma de los corralitos.

#2 Trying to follow the map model I made with the layout, I made a pencil sketch with the divisions. Then I cut strips of cardboard 2 cm high, measuring according to the divisions I marked on the foam board. This way, each strip of cardboard would form a division for a small room or pen in what would be this pig farm. Then I folded the cardboard into the shape of each square and made sure to mark flaps to represent the doors (I cut them in a T shape with a craft knife) to then glue these divisions to the foam board with hot glue. With strips of cardboard 0.6 cm thick, I made small rectangles and glued them inside the spaces of the divisions of each room, which will be the pens where the pigs will go, and these rectangles represent the feeders.Using the silver-colored wooden dowels, I made the metal frames for these pens, which usually have this industrial, lattice-like appearance. I completed the frames with the dowels as tubes for the pen's structure, and also as if they were the doors of these partitions. It's not very complicated; you just stick the wooden dowels into the foam board and add a little hot glue to secure them, then glue them together according to the shape of the Corral.

#3 Para representar los bebederos de agua , usé un pitillo / popote de plástico grueso que corté horizontal mente a la mitad ,para hacer estos medios cilindros donde se supone que los cerdos tomarán agua, dentro de estos tubos usé un poco de silicón caliente y una gota de pintura azul , y mezcle mientras estaba caliente, para tener está apariencia que los bebederos están llenos de agua, para los bebederos más grandes use el empaque de un brillo de labios cortado a la mitad, también hice el mismo efecto para los comederos, mezclando silicón caliente con pintura amarilla, como si estuvieran llenos de comida.
Usé un foami moldeable ( encontré el paquete en menos de 2$ en mango bajito, y sale bastante buenos, pero no he encontrado más), y modele los cerditos ,estos sí les debo el tutorial para los cerditos porque hice varias figuras diferentes , y usé de base anime y luego los modele en Foami moldeable, en otro post se los dejaré mas específico. Para identificar cada espacio imprimí los títulos de cada espacio y de las etapas ,y las pegué en los corrales de la maqueta.

#3 To represent the water troughs, I used a thick plastic straw that I cut horizontally in half to make these half-cylinders where the pigs are supposed to drink. Inside these tubes, I used a little hot glue and a drop of blue paint, mixing it while it was still hot to give the appearance that the troughs are full of water. For the larger troughs, I used a lip gloss container cut in half. I also did the same effect for the feeders, mixing hot glue with yellow paint, as if they were full of food.
**I used moldable foam (I found the pack for less than $2 at Mango Baquita, and it turns out quite good, but I haven't found any more), and I modeled the piglets. I owe you a tutorial for the piglets because I made several different figures, using anime as a base and then modeling them in moldable foam. I'll give you more details in another post. To identify each space, I printed the titles for each space and stage, and glued them onto the model's corrals.

#4 en las divisiones estaba los corrales dE los Verracos que hice en marrón (estos son los cerdos machos para monta ), y en otro corral las hembras reproductoras , en otro corral la zona de lactancia, con una mamá cochina y sus crías para representar esta etapa, quedaron muy adorables los lechoncitos ,otro seccion representa la etapa de destete en dónde ya van creciendo los cerdos, y los de cebo y engorde, en dónde lps cerdos toman el peso adecuado para ser enviados al matadero, también recorté círculos y aspas en cartulina metalizada para hacer ventiladores, ya que estos van en los corrales para refrescar el lugar.

#5 Para darle mejor terminación usé tiras de cartulina metalizada de unos 5 cm de alto para hacer lo que serían las paredes de la granja /instalación, excepto en la esquina que sería la entrada y allí lo deje de 2 cm para que se viera el césped y las puertas de la entrada, con foami moldeable marrón y verde, hice plantas decorativas para decorar la entrada, también imprimí la imagen de un cochinito y lo pegué en un cuadrado de foami con un palito de altura ,para representar una vaya publicitaria de esta granja jajaj ,me gustó agregarle esos detalles, al igual que luego de la entrada hice una seccion que sería la "oficina", y también le pegue una imagen de un cochinito 🐖 como otro anuncio.

#5 To give it a better finish, I used strips of metallic cardstock about 5 cm high to make the walls of the farm/installation, except in the corner which would be the entrance, where I left it 2 cm high so the grass and the front doors would show. With brown and green moldable foam, I made decorative plants to decorate the entrance. I also printed an image of a little pig and glued it onto a square of foam with a stick for height, to represent an advertising billboard for this farm, haha. I liked adding those details. Similarly, after the entrance, I made a section that would be the "office," and I also glued an image of a little pig 🐖 there as another advertisement.

#6 En la parte final de la granja, usé un fragmento que quedaba para ejemplificar la cadena de producción cárnica , en este caso hice una rejas con palitos plateados, y esculpí piezas del cochino como una pieza de cerdo colgada, un pernil de cerdo y un cerdo muerto con las costillas expuestas, este es el ejemplo qué luego de que los cerdos son engordados salen al matadero, pasando luego a la zona de despiece, luego se procesas como carne frescas y son embolsados o preparados para su distribución y ser consumidos por el ciudadano, así que hice unas figuras de chuletas, salchichas y mortadela para ejemplicar este último paso.

**#6 In the final part of the farm, I used a remaining fragment to exemplify the meat production chain. In this case, I made a fence with silver sticks and sculpted pieces of the pig, such as a hanging piece of pork, a pork leg, and a dead pig with its ribs exposed. This is an example of how, after the pigs are fattened, they go to the slaughterhouse, then to the cutting area, then they are processed as fresh meat and are bagged or prepared for distribution and consumption by the citizen. So I made some figures of chops, sausages, and mortadella to exemplify this last step.

#7 Este es el Resultado, corté unas letras con foami rojo escarchado y los pegué sobre papel blancos,para hacer el titulo de instalación porcina, y así se vería la granja desde arriba , pueden ver los cerditos , es mi parte favorito, ( y la paleta de cerdo, me pareció muy realista 🍖), no es el tipo de cosas que hago a menudo pero está maqueta estaba interesante y me costó bastante pensar en como iba a representar todas las partes de esta granja, pero el resultado quedó genial , y terminé aprendiendo sobre la cría porcina además , así que no fue tan mal, y los cochinitos bebés son adorables.

#7 This is the result! I cut out some letters from glittery red foam and glued them onto white paper to make the title "Pig Facility." This is what the farm would look like from above. You can see the piglets; it's my favorite part (and the pork shoulder—I thought it looked very realistic 🍖). It's not the kind of thing I do often, but this model was interesting, and it took me quite a while to figure out how I was going to represent all the parts of this farm. But the result turned out great, and I ended up learning about pig farming too, so it wasn't so bad. And the baby piglets are adorable.
