Hello Hive.
Happy new Monday to us all. Mondays are often a special day for us in the needlework family and I remember those days when the house was much fuller, it was always buzzling with lots of creative activities. There was so much to learn and talk about. Let's hope that the coming years will bring in more people into the Blockchain like every other social media. Hive is one of the coolest place to be and I still love it here. I find it difficult to find my way around TikTok and a few other social media that are coming up. And I still have some cool friends and there are still lots of beautiful things to see.
Now I finally get to wear my new dress
Today I made this very comfortable dress to share with the family. I love wearing free and comfortable. dresses and wanted to give this dress the perfect touch that will make me feel comfortable wearing it.
These are one of the dresses I had damaged as an apprentice and can as well to trashed away but my tailor mind won't just discard any outfit. In order not to stress myself much with too many adjustment here and there I decided to rework the dress into something else entirely.
I loosend the stitches and cut out the front and back to a sizeable kimono style readjusting the terrible neckline I had cut earlier 🤣🤣🤣
Necklines are an important aspect of outfits and when cut wrong the outfit won't be appealing to anyone.
Fabrics like this shouldn't be sewn without an inner lining. That was one of my initial mistakes. It gets torn easily without a lining for reinforcement except we want to sew it as a very free or dropped outfit.
I took out all the pieces of the linings in my bag and mixed several colors, since I didn't want to purchase any lining and it is not a customers wear. 😂😂😂.
If you try to turn over my dresses, you will see multiple color of linings, most seamstresses do this to their own clothes I believe 😂😂😂🤣🤣.
Next I turned the upper part of the dress over with the lining. This time around my sewing was quit better as I closed in all the seams in the wear including the waistline. This is what you must do if you have a frail fabrics without a weaving matching.
For the lower part of the fabric I equally turned the waistline with the lining such that when I finished joining the upper and lower bodice, the wrong side of the dress came out pretty neat.
The waistline was cut a little larger than my bodice since I wanted something free but in order to give it some shape, I got an elastic thread and stitched it to the seamline of the waist.
This was how my blouse came to life and I was even thinking of rocking it to church like this yesterday with my fascinator. I made earlier of this fabric and I have this one to myself.
I'm so so happy that my sewing are now witnessing lesser mistakes as the days goes by and I'm no longer damaging any clothes as at before. Stacy will be getting the wrap dress
