Another crops I like among the beans family is this soya beans and for the first time we have been able to grow some successfully. There are some difference between Soya beans and beans. And both of these legumes are used for different purpose. Soya beans is widely known around the world and alot of people use it for different delicacies.

Myself particular loves soya beans for tea. We use it to make tea, tofu and baby food. It is one of the peas that is very rich in protein. The first time we have grown this, we didn't understand the season and best time for doing so, having had lots of glitches, it all went bad and we couldn't harvest anything from it. But today I have followed it closely and learnt a couple of things about growing these.

One major difference I have noticed between soya beans and normal beans is that, this particular plants produces it's seeds once unlike beans that will be multiple times, the seeds here will be harvested just once and thats all.

Once the leaves starts drying like the ones here, it means that the brains within are ripe and ready for harvest.

One of the major things to know about growing this soya beans is that, the plant doesn't like too much rain just like beans. Heavy rainfalls causes the seeds to rot before harvest. The timing for planting must be calculated such that the periods of seed production will fall into the times when high rainfalls are subsiding. Like for this now. Planting can be done in the month of August, the crops will continue to grow gradually until about this timing when you will begin to see the seeds.

You can see how healthy these seeds are and in about two weeks from now these can be harvested without any challenges. Allowing them to ripen out and dry a little from the farm relives one of the the stress of daily Sun-drying so that the grains can get preserved properly.
