Learning to integrate the shadows of my inner state.

1000193695.jpg

Hello friends of Holos & Lotus, I hope you are doing well despite the adversity and life's own difficulties. I read the post by our dear @damarysvibra, in which she leads us to reflect on our Inner State. How important it is to understand and analyze our own inner self; what we carry inside is often reflected in the way we behave or act toward life. That is why I would like to share my point of view on this topic, which, besides being very interesting and of great importance, I believe leads us to uncover those spaces within ourselves that we sometimes do not want to accept.

How can I get to know myself? It seems to me that this is a fundamental question; above all, it marks the first steps toward understanding who we are and how we can improve what we no longer want in our lives. Starting by not letting everything external overwhelm us and being able to understand that part of what we experience also comes from our own responsibility and the decisions we make. It is important that we never stop asking ourselves questions, as this is how we can begin to create that space for personal growth and healing.

After getting to know ourselves better—although we never really stop doing so—we can be honest with ourselves and stop lying. When difficult situations arise that make us feel uncomfortable or bring out an emotion that isn't so positive, that is when we must look at what it is we need to observe more closely, not to set it aside, but to learn to integrate it into our lives without letting it become an obstacle or a stepping stone that stops us in our tracks. This part is extremely difficult and even painful, because we may realize that we often set ourselves aside and even allow external factors to dominate us, when we should be the ones who know how and when to act.

It happens to me a lot that I find it hard to connect with young people. I feel that simply being at an age where I am more of an adult leads me to think that the ideas youth have nowadays are full of shortcomings and experiences that lack a specific purpose or meaning. It is difficult because I have to coexist daily with young people, since I am studying at the university, and although there are also people my age and even older, I feel there is indeed a gap separating me from the common mindset of today's youth. And this led me to realize that there are still things I need to learn and also heal.

Being in a different space with people of other ages has revealed in me a desire to belong, while at the same time wanting to hold onto my beliefs with pride. There are things that trigger an avoidance state in me, and I know that might mean I carry a fear of not living up to what is expected of me, or a fear of being left out. And even though perhaps this is something that should be overcome and healed by the time one is an adult, in reality, it is something we work on throughout our entire lives. What I am trying to do is not let these things that happen and that I feel prevent me from fully living this experience, which I have embraced with gratitude.

So, I have opened myself up to talking, observing, and analyzing my inner self while going about my daily activities. I am seeing how I can learn from every person who crosses my path, which I don't believe happens by mere chance. Everything that is different or new can cause fear or curiosity, and I am at that stage where I know what I want for myself, but there is also something inside that still asks me to have more respect for myself and my values. It is not about being completely detached from what I am experiencing, but rather striving to make every experience worthwhile and learning that, besides the shadows that exist in the world, there are also those inside me—and they deserve to be seen and recognized by me to continue healing.
