Looking back: a beautiful miracle.

Lately, I've felt like time is flying by. I think there are so many things piling up that it's almost overwhelming to think about the present or the future. Something that keeps me grounded is connecting with what brings me back to that person I was before becoming the adult I am today. Maybe it sounds cliché, but I like being able to remember the things I loved when I was a child or teenager; I think that's the stage where I was most true to myself.

It's fun and nostalgic to remember the times when I felt free, when there weren't so many obligations, and when I was surrounded by people who made me feel encouraged and loved. I think these are unique moments, which is why we only live them once in a lifetime, but without a doubt, despite everything I've had to go through, I think I would like—if I could—to turn back time and relive moments and people who are no longer here for various reasons. How wonderful it is to remember...

I would love to be able to listen to my favorite music for the first time again; although it feels special today, it's not the same as how I felt when I experienced it as something new. To be able to watch live television shows again while enjoying them with my siblings, my grandmother, and my mom. To hear my grandmother's voice and feel her hands, which hugged and cared for me with so much affection. These are such special things that we only have one chance to experience, which is why it's necessary to appreciate the moments.

Something that makes me very sad is not having thought the way I do now, after having gone through other situations and stages. Maybe age gives you more maturity or life lessons make you wiser, but I would have liked to think differently about myself and the world. Especially about who I was; besides, I still hold a huge admiration for the young woman I was—how brave and determined, how stubborn about certain things, and how strong I was in defending my ideals.

These are things that perhaps ten years from now I will feel the same way about with this present moment. However, I like the idea that I was able to live and enjoy each stage the best way I could. Life lately has been making me remember and return to those times, but I feel immensely grateful for having been able to have the right people by my side and my family's support. It's something I value and that not everyone gets to experience in the same way.

When I think about the past, rather than reproaching myself, I feel as though I am connecting with the realest part of who I am. Someone unfiltered, who dreamed of very special things, and that's why I now try to give myself everything I couldn't before—giving myself the courage to believe in my dreams, to believe in my ideas, and to value the person I am. I am grateful to my past because it led me to the version of myself I have today, but I wish with all my heart and perseverance that the future fills me with many beautiful and wonderful things, because I know I am deserving of that and more. 🫶🏽☺️
