A few days back I shared the Oman FIFA commemorative coin and I mentioned about sharing my Silver coin collection. Today I want to share one another rare coin that I have in my collection. The FIFA coin I bought, but this one has been gifted to me by an elderly couple friend, who have been in Oman for a long time. The coin was issued on the 28th Oman National Day which is in the year of 1998, which is now exatly 28years passed. In 2026 Nov Oman will celebrate its 56th National Day.
In this year there was a major transformation in Oman, it is the year which was designated as the Private Sector year for the country. Oman like Dubai has also grown up from a desert land, so it is truly commendable how these countries have been built up. Though Oman is not as extravagant as Dubai but it has its own charm preserving its natural beauty and cultural roots.
Since it was the private sector year theme, the picture on the coin captures symbols of trade, modernization, and development. Not sure of how many coins were issued, but they were very limited and only government officials and diplomats had access to it. My friend at that time was in a senior position in their government bank so she had managed to get a couple of coins. If I sell it today, I can get a good price because it is now a collectible item for the Omani nationals. Anyways I have no plans of selling it ever. My plan is to pass on the whole collection to my grandchildren, and I am hoping that they will value it.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
