Hello, anime fans. The summer season (in Japan) has come to an end, and as has been my custom since I started this blog, I’m bringing you a short series of “TOP” lists featuring the best anime I’ve watched over the past three months. This time, I’ll start by talking about Isekai anime—a genre that has become so popular in recent years that it’s hard not to see them airing every season. However, unlike the dozens of generic Isekai series I see every year, here I’ll be talking about the best this season has to offer.
For those who are new here and don’t yet know how this works, let me clarify that what you’ll see below is my personal selection of what I consider to be the best anime in this genre and from this season. I’ll rate each anime on a scale of 1 to 10, starting with the lowest-rated one and ending with the highest-rated one on the list. Everything you’ll read in this TOP list is solely my own opinion, so if Isekai piques your interest and you’re looking for a guide on where to start, stick around until the end.

La temporada de verano (en Japón) ha llegado a su fin y, como ya es costumbre desde los inicios en mi blog, les traigo una pequeña serie de TOPs con los mejores animes que he visto en estos últimos tres meses. En esta ocasión empezaré por hablarles de los animes Isekai, un género que se ha popularizado tanto en estos últimos años que es difícil no verlos emitirse en cada temporada. Sin embargo, a diferencia de las decenas de Isekais genéricos que veo cada año, aquí les hablaré de lo mejor que está temporada nos ha traído.
Para los que son nuevos y aún no sepan cómo va esto, les aclaro que lo que verán a continuación es una elección personal de los que considero yo son los mejores animes de este género y de esta temporada. Cada anime será calificado por mi persona del 1 al 10, empezando con el de menor calificación y terminando con el de mayor calificación de la lista. Todo lo que leerán en este TOP es únicamente mi propia opinión, así que si te llama la atención el Isekai y buscas alguna guía para ver con qué empezar, quédate hasta el final.

Heroine? Saint? No, I'm an All-Works Maid (and Proud of It)!
Let’s start off on a more laid-back note with a new and little-known Isekai series that has managed to set itself apart from the rest thanks to its plot and blend of humor and fantasy. It’s an anime that has gone largely unnoticed this season, despite having a somewhat interesting premise. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Atekichi and illustrated by Yukiko, this anime adaptation was produced by the studio ETM Squared. The anime tells the story of Celeste McMurdon, a young woman who has been reincarnated into a medieval fantasy world where she will fulfill her dream of becoming a maid.

Es un anime que ha pasado muy desapercibido en esta temporada, a pesar de tener una premisa un tanto interesante. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Atekichi e ilustradas por Yukiko, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el estudio ETM Squared. That’s right—this isn’t your typical story about a protagonist reincarnated in a fantasy world where he gains powers that make him invincible and sets off with his harem of waifus on an adventure to defeat the Demon King and all that. Here, the story is different, and that’s the first and only thing that caught my attention about this anime. Despite having a very sweet and “family-friendly” tone, the truth is that its plot and story development are interesting, to say the least. It doesn’t have any shocking plot twists, but it does have moments that are a bit unpredictable because of the decisions the protagonist makes.
While it has almost no action, drama, or moments of tension, the anime maintains that fantasy aesthetic through the protagonist’s magic and the way she uses it in her job as a maid. It’s funny to see that the story centers on a maid with Saint-like powers who also plays the role of the Heroine, but that’s the main joke of this anime. The characters we meet also have their standout moments, but little else. The animation isn’t the best in the world, but at least it maintains a minimum level of quality that’s acceptable for what it offers.
Personally, I give it a 7/10 rating as far as the Isekai genre is concerned.
Así es, aquí no estamos ante la típica historia del protagonista reencarnado en un mundo fantástico donde recibe poderes que lo vuelven invencible y viaja con su harem de waifus a una aventura donde vencerá al Rey Demonio y todo eso. Aquí la historia es diferente y eso es lo primero y lo único que me llamó la atención de este anime. A pesar de tener un tono muy tierno y “family friendly”, la verdad es que su trama y desarrollo de la historia es interesante por no decir menos. No tiene giros de trama impactantes, pero sí momentos que son un poco impredecibles por las decisiones que toma la protagonista.
Si bien casi no tiene nada de acción, drama o momentos de tensión, el anime mantiene esa estética fantástica con la magia que posee la protagonista y su manera de usarla en su lugar de trabajo como Sirvienta. Es gracioso ver qué la historia se centra en una Sirvienta con poderes de Santa y con el papel de Heroína, pero ese es el chiste principal de este anime. Los personajes que conocemos también tienen sus puntos destacables, pero poco más. La animación no es la mejor del mundo, pero al menos mantiene un mínimo de calidad aceptable para lo que nos ofrece.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género Isekai.

The Saga of Tanya the Evil (Season 2)
In this spot, we’re taking things up several notches with the following anime, which is the sequel to one of the best isekai series I’ve ever seen in my entire life, without exception. It pains me greatly to have to place this second season in this spot, but the fact is that it just happened to air alongside other giants of the genre, which we’ll discuss later. Also based on the light novel series of the same name written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki, The Saga of Tanya the Evil was produced by NUT studio.
In this second season, we see our young protagonist, Tanya Degurechaff, leading her new combined-arms unit on the front lines. However, due to the incompetence of her new subordinates, Tanya will have to take on extra work and train the new recruits to prepare them for war. An isekai that blends fantasy with warfare and explores the darker, more heart-wrenching aspects of war—both for those who participate in it and for the nations involved. It’s not an isekai that everyone would want to see, since here we have neither heroes, nor adventurers, nor Demon Kings.
En este puesto elevamos varios niveles con el siguiente anime, el cual es la continuación de uno de los mejores Isekais que he visto en toda mi vida, sin excepción alguna. Me duele mucho tener que colocarla en este puesto esta segunda temporada, pero es que justamente tuvo que emitirse junto con otros gigantes del género del cual hablaremos más adelante. Basada también en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Carlo Zen e ilimitadas por Shinobu Shinotsuki, The Saga of Tanya the Evil fue producida por el estudio NUT.
En esta segunda temporada vemos a nuestra pequeña protagonista Tanya Degurechaff dirigir su nueva unidad de armas combinadas en el frente de batalla. Sin embargo, debido a la incompetencia de sus nuevos subordinados, Tanya tendrá que realizar trabajos extra y corregir a los nuevos para prepararlos para la guerra. Un Isekai que mezcla la fantasía con lo bélico y todo el tema de la guerra y lo más oscuro y desgarrador que esta ofrece tanto a los que participan como para los países involucrados. No es un Isekai que cualquiera desee llegar a ver ya que aquí no tenemos ni héroes, ni aventureros, ni Reyes Demonio.

The closest thing we have to a demon here is the protagonist of this anime herself, who seems to have maintained her level of evil and way of thinking in this second season, despite how hard they tried to make her more “family-friendly” at the beginning. While it lacks the pace and impact of its unforgettable first season, that doesn’t take away from everything we get to see and learn—both about the war unfolding in this fantasy world reminiscent of the World Wars and about Tanya’s own struggle against the “God” who brought her into this world.
The anime also boasts a level of animation and audiovisual quality that we’ve come to greatly appreciate from its previous season several years ago. The studio managed to maintain that level of quality in the character designs, art style, fluidity, visual effects, color palette, and use of light and shadow. The sound effects are a real spectacle in this anime, especially in its various action scenes. However, what truly elevates this anime is, without a doubt, its unforgettable and memorable soundtrack. An Isekai that I definitely recommend watching.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating within the Isekai genre.
Lo más cercano que tenemos a un demonio aquí es la propia protagonista de este anime, la cual parece haber mantenido su nivel de maldad y forma de pensar en esta segunda temporada, a pesar de lo mucho que intentaron hacerla más “family friendly” al principio. Si bien no tiene el ritmo ni el nivel de impacto que tuvo su inolvidable primera temporada, eso no quita que todo que llegamos a ver y aprender tanto de la guerra que se desarrolla en este mundo de fantasía similar a la época de las guerras mundiales como también de la misma lucha que tiene nuestra Tanya contra el “Dios” que la trajo a este mundo.
El anime también posee un nivel de animación y calidad audiovisual que mucho hemos llegado a apreciar en su temporada anterior hace ya varios años atrás. El estudio logró mantener dicho nivel de calidad tanto con los diseños de los personajes, el estilo de dibujo, la fluidez, los efectos visuales, la paleta de colores y el uso de luces y sombras. Los efectos de sonido hacen todo un espectáculo en este anime, sobre todo en las distintas escenas de acción que posee. Sin embargo, lo que magnifica este anime es sin duda alguna su banda sonora inolvidable y memorable. Un Isekai que definitivamente recomiendo ver.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género Isekai.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Season 2 - Cour 2)
Another Isekai anime that also deserves a spot on this list is the one that came back this year in a big way: a fourth season with more than 40 episodes. I also consider this one of the best Isekai anime I’ve seen—at least so far. While the premise is predictable at first, it ended up completely hooking me. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is produced by the studio Eight Bit. During this latest season, we see Rimuru Tempest prepare to take the next step toward his dream of creating a place where monsters and humans can live together in peace.
However, one of his enemies is also preparing to carry out his mission of elimination using risky and little-known methods. A new hero is reborn in this fantastical, medieval world. I won’t deny that I lost a bit of hope in this anime while watching its third season, which didn’t quite live up to the standard set by the first two seasons. However, one thing I can’t deny about this Isekai is that it does an excellent job of taking its time to show us the entire process of development and growth of the Kingdom of Tempest that our protagonist has created.
Otro anime Isekai que también merece estar en este TOP es el uno que regresó este año con todo: una cuarta temporada con más de 40 episodios. Este también es considerado por mí como uno de los mejores animes Isekai que he visto, al menos hasta ahora. Si bien tiene una premisa predecible al principio, llegó a engancharme por completo. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Fuse e ilustradas por Mitz Vah, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime es producida por el estudio Eight Bit. No les voy a negar que llegué a perder un poco las esperanzas con este anime al ver su tercera temporada, al cual no alcanzó el nivel que nos ofreció las primeras dos temporadas. Sin embargo, algo que no puedo negar de este Isekai es que hace muy bien el trabajo de tomarse su tiempo para mostrarnos todo el proceso de desarrollo y crecimiento que tiene el Reino de Tempest que nuestro protagonista ha creado.

If we think back to how this anime began, it’s amazing to see how far this little slime—with powers comparable to those of an elemental dragon from this world—has come. But that’s not all: we also get to see the development of various supporting characters who are part of the huge entourage that follows our protagonist, and in this latest season, we see them grow and become an important part of this realm of monsters and humans. On the other hand, the fact that the anime takes its time with certain elements doesn’t mean it neglects other important details, such as the enemies, who also have a strong presence and undergo their own development.
This is especially true in this latest cour, which aired over the past three months, where we see an enemy who turned out to be somewhat unpredictable. And that’s not all—the very story and fantasy world we know from this anime manages to expand further into something multidimensional with the origin and development of another supporting character we encounter here. In short, this anime still seems to have a lot to offer us, so let’s see how it manages to knock the following titles off this TOP list. Its animation, by the way, is no afterthought—especially its ear-splitting sound effects and excellent fluidity.
Personally, I give it a rating of 9.5/10 within the Isekai genre.
Si recordamos cómo fue que empezó este anime, es admirable ver hasta dónde ha llegado este pequeño slime con poderes equiparables al de un dragón elemental de este mundo. Pero bueno, no solo tenemos esto, sino también que podemos ver el desarrollo de distintos personajes secundarios que forman parte del enorme séquito que sigue a nuestro protagonista y que en esta última temporada los vemos expandirse y ser parte importante de este reino de monstruos y humanos. Por otro lado, el hecho de que se tome su tiempo para ciertas cosas no significa que el anime descuide otros detalles importantes como lo son los enemigos, los cuales también tienen presencia y desarrollo.
Sobre todo en este último Cour que se emitió en estos últimos tres meses donde vemos a un enemigo que llegó a ser un tanto impredecible. Y eso no es todo, la misma historia y mundo fantástico que conocemos en este anime logra expandirse más a algo multidimensional con el origen y desarrollo de otro de los personajes secundarios que conocemos aquí. En fin, que este anime parece que aún tiene mucho por ofrecernos, así que a ver cómo le hacen para quitarle el puesto a las siguientes obras de este TOP. Su animación, por cierto, no llega a ser lo de menos, sobre todo sus efectos de sonido rompe oídos y su fluidez tan excelente.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género Isekai.

Mushoku Tensei III: Jobless Reincarnation
This is one of the best Isekai anime of both the season and the year… or at least that’s what half the world is saying online. Personally, I admit that I really enjoyed this anime at the time and even watched it more than a couple of times because its story and narrative are fascinating. Yes, it has its quirks—like the protagonist—but we’ll get to that later. Based on the famous light novel series of the same name written by Rifujin no Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka, Mushoku Tensei III was produced by Studio Bind.
In this new season, we see our protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat, living his happy life in this fantastical, medieval world with his two wives, Sylphie and Roxy, with whom he decides to return to school while watching his younger sister, Norn, adjust to school life and his mother—who has been gradually losing her memory—do things that give her hope she might recover. I’m going to be honest with all of you: I love this anime, not because of its animation, but because of its story. Something that really fascinates me about a work—especially an animated one—is the depth of character development they give the protagonist.
Estamos ante uno de los mejores animes Isekai tanto de la temporada como también del año… o al menos es lo que la mitad del mundo dice en internet. Yo en lo personal admito que he llegado a disfrutar de este anime en su momento y hasta llegué a verla más de un par de veces ya que su historia y narrativa es fascinante. Si, tiene sus detalles como el protagonista, pero eso ya lo hablaremos a continuación. Basada en la famosa serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Rifujin no Magonote e ilustradas por Shirotaka, Mushoku Tensei III fue producida por Studio Bind.
En esta nueva temporada vemos a nuestro protagonista, Rudeus Greyrat, vivir su feliz vida en este mundo fantástico y medieval con sus dos esposas, Sylphie y Roxy con quienes decide regresar a clases mientras ve cómo su hermana menor, Norn se está adaptación a la escuela y su madre quien ha perdido la memoria poco a poco hacer cosas que le devuelven la esperanza de que pueda recuperarse. Voy a ser sincero con todos ustedes: amo este anime, no porque tenga una buena animación, sino por su historia. Algo que me fascina mucho de una obra y más si es animada es el nivel de desarrollo que le dan al protagonista.

That’s why, in the case of Mushoku Tensei, this anime meets this important criterion I expect from an isekai—or any anime—by providing our protagonist with one character development arc after another. Yes, Rudeus Greyrat may be one of the most despicable, annoying, and terrible protagonists to have ever existed in contemporary literature and anime. But for that very reason—and because of everything he suffers and experiences in this latest season as well as the two previous ones—he ends up becoming someone somewhat respectable (if I may say so). However, I still feel that the story itself falls short in certain areas.
This latest season isn’t quite over yet, so giving it a rating now before waiting for the final episode isn’t really my style. However, I know full well that I can expect an unforgettable finale from this Isekai, since the story has reached its climax with the current arc. Still, it falls short by presenting entire arcs with very few interesting moments. The anime’s pacing is uneven, but when it manages to make an impact, it does so very well. The same goes for its animation, which is among the best you’ll see this season. The quality, fluidity, detail, and visual effects are top-notch. The soundtrack is no slouch either.
Personally, I give it a 9.5/10 rating within the Isekai genre.
Es por eso que, en el caso de Mushoku Tensei, este anime logra este requisito importante que espero de un Isekai o de cualquier anime al darnos desarrollo tras desarrollo a nuestro protagonista. Que sí, que Rudeus Greyrat puede ser uno de los protagonistas más despreciables, oxidables y terribles que hayan existido en la literatura y el anime actual. Pero por eso mismo y por todo lo que sufre y vive tanto en esta última temporada como en las dos anteriores termina convirtiéndose en alguien medianamente respetable (si es que me permiten decir esto). Sin embargo, aún considero que la misma historia llega a fallar en ciertos puntos.
Esta última temporada aún no finaliza como tal, así que darle una calificación ahora antes de esperar el último episodio es algo que no va conmigo. Sin embargo, sé muy bien qué puedo esperar un final inolvidable de este Isekai ya que la historia ha llegado a su punto más álgido con el arco actual. Sin embargo, falla en darnos arcos enteros con pocos momentos interesantes, nomás. El ritmo del anime es impreciso, pero cuando logra impactar, lo hace muy bien. Al igual que sucede con su animación, la cual es de lo mejor que se puede llegar a ver en esta temporada. El nivel de calidad, fluidez, detalles y efectos visuales son de lo mejor. La banda sonora tampoco se queda atrás.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género Isekai.

Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World (Season 4 - Cour 2)
To wrap up this great TOP list, I couldn’t think of a better way to do it than with the mecca of Isekai, the masterpiece of the fantasy genre, and the priceless gem of modern anime. Yes, for me, this anime is The Best Isekai of All Time, without any exceptions whatsoever. From its story and characters to its battles and plot twists, everything about this anime is among the very best you’ll find both in this genre and in the world of anime. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka, Re:Zero is produced by White Fox studio.
In this second cour of the latest season, we see our protagonist, Natsuki Subaru, return, determined to save everyone from the danger lurking in the enormous tower where they find themselves—even though he still hasn’t fully recovered his memories. Seriously, if you thought last season was the best of the entire series, you were TERRIBLY WRONG. This fourth season is the pinnacle—the absolute peak of epicness, drama, suspense, horror, mystery, and action—especially now that it has just wrapped up. All the plot twists this season delivered with Subaru’s memory loss, along with the challenges and enemies we encounter here, are absolutely top-notch.
Para darle cierre a este gran TOP no encontré otra manera de hacerlo que con la meca del Isekai, la obra maestra del género de fantasía, la joya invaluable del anime moderno. Si, para mí, este anime es El Mejor Isekai de Todos, sin excepción alguna en lo absoluto. Tanto su historia, sus personajes, sus batallas, sus giros de trama, todo de este anime es de lo mejor que se puede encontrar tanto en este género como en el mundo del anime. Basada en la serie de novelas ligeras homónimas escritas por Tappei Nagatsuki e ilustradas por Shinichirou Otsuka, Re:Zero es producida por el estudio White Fox.
En este segundo Cour de esta última temporada vemos de regreso a nuestro protagonista, Natsuki Subaru, decidido a salvar a todos del peligro que habita en la enorme torre en la que se encuentran, a pesar de que aún no ha podido recuperar del todo sus recuerdos. De verdad, si pensaba que la temporada pasada era la mejor de toda esta serie, estaba TERRIBLEMENTE EQUIVOCADO. La meca, el punto más álgido de epicidad, drama, suspenso, horror, misterio y acción lo tiene esta cuarta temporada y más ahora que está recién finalizada. Todo el giro de trama que nos dió esta temporada con la pérdida de la memoria de Subaru, los desafíos y los enemigos que vemos aquí son de lo mejor.

The way it brings the entire cycle of self-redemption—which we’ve already seen in previous seasons—full circle, and the way the anime manages to balance everything so that each episode doesn’t feel too heavy, despite all the epic moments and scenes packed with drama, action, and suspense. I love how the anime also focuses on each of the characters trapped in this tower and how each one manages to overcome every obstacle through their own efforts. But what fascinates me most about this anime is how it really makes us suffer for our beloved protagonist—truly.
Best of all, based on what I’ve managed to spoil for myself online over the past few months, what’s coming in the next seasons (if they decide to continue the anime, which I hope they do) is some of the best this magnificent story has to offer. On the other hand, another strong point Re:Zero has going for it is its spectacular animation. White Fox did an excellent job with this latest season, especially in this final arc, where we see a level of quality on par with what we saw in previous seasons. The final episode alone features an action sequence with an impressive audiovisual quality. I 100% recommend this anime to everyone, without exception.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved 10/10 rating within the Isekai genre.
La manera en la que cierra todo el ciclo de auto-redención que ya hemos visto en temporadas anteriores y la manera en la que el anime logra equilibrarlo todo para que no parezca tan pesado cada episodio con tanto nivel de epicidad y momentos repletos de drama, acción y suspenso. Amo cómo el anime también centra su atención a cada uno de los personajes que se encuentran encerrados en esta torre y cómo cada quien logra superar cada dificultad con su propio esfuerzo. Pero lo que más me fascina de este anime es cómo nos hace sufrir a nuestro querido protagonista, de verdad.
Lo mejor de todo es que, según lo que llegué a spoilearme en internet en estos últimos meses, lo que se viene en las siguientes temporadas (si es que proceden a continuar con el anime, que espero que hagan) es de lo mejor que se ha visto en esta grandiosa historia. Por otro lado, otro punto a favor que tiene también Re:Zero es su espectacular animación. White Fox hizo un trabajo excelente con esta última temporada, sobre todo en este último arco donde vemos un nivel de calidad equiparable al que vimos en temporadas anteriores. Ya de por sí, el episodio final tiene una secuencia de acción con un nivel audiovisual impresionante. 100% recomendado este anime a todo el mundo, sin excepción.
Personalmente, le doy una muy merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género Isekai.
