Stubborn Enough to Win, Stubborn Enough to Lose

In this world we live in, each one of us has his or her own personal traits. Some of us are cool headed and then others are very hot headed. There are people who will just accept things as they come whether they favored them or not and on the other side we have people who will rebel against anything they know isn’t planned in their favor and won’t serve them well.

Either way, we all do what we are okay with and what we feel is good for us. Growing up, my upbringing was quite different from that of most people. Most of my peers were being shut down by their parents in one way or the other but my parents encouraged me to be outspoken. What they didn’t know was that, me being outspoken meant even towards them when I felt I was being wronged.

As it stands now, it’s been established in our home that I’m the one person that can confront everyone in a nice when they do something wrong. So, if someone does something to the other person, i automatically become the mediator. As much as that sounds good, i hate being in the middle of drama. Regardless, i always find a way to make peace reign.

In another perspective, I grew up lowkey being the black sheep in our house. If everyone was going this way, I will be going the other way. To me, this was because I always saw things differently and it’s difficult for people to understand so I just don’t bother anymore. But then, sometimes my stubbornness paid off and other times, I learnt my lesson the hard one. Let’s start with the sad story first.

So, there was a time where I was a rebelling teen. Anything my parents sad fell to deaf ears. Instead of studying after school, I will stay on my phone till way past midnight. I wasn’t even getting the required hours of sleep I needed. I knew it wasn’t good for me but I just did what I wanted to do. Exams came and I was struggling to study. I kept my feet in buckets of water just to stay awake, I drank coffee and still ended up sleeping. I need not tell you how the results for that exam went. I didn’t fail but it was terrible and my parents just won’t let me hear the end of it. It’s safe to say, I leant my lesson the hard way.

The time my stubbornness paid off was when I got into a huge fight with my parents about a very important life decision. This fight got so serious we all blocked each other. I know I can be dramatic but I didn’t that. We didn’t talk to each other and so many things. They when they tried to reach out to me, I acted like I didn’t want to hear them out. Later on, they just had to give in and do what I wanted. And honestly, that’s one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I didn’t want to look back in life when things don’t go so well at some point and blame my parents for that. If there’s anyone to blame, it should be me and that’s something I can handle.

At the end of the day, everything works out in its perfect time.

I think its really a good parenting when parents choose their kids to be outspoken and do not restrict the expression of their kids. In this way, kids could express with more freedom.

I love how we now stand up for what we think is right and not having to bend always because we don't want to be stubborn and end up in a bad situation.

Truly a right point here @nhaji01 . We are born differently. Some of us just accept things in more light hearted understanding. But some of us wants things to be done accordingly
