What Came Naturally and What Challenged Me

I grew up being a very curious kid. To some extent, that led to me being very inquisitive which made my mom discipline me a lot of times but if I found out or heard of something, I must get to the end of it. You know how curious kids can be, what you tell them not to do is exactly what they will do. Unfortunately for me, sometimes I lad to learn my lesson the hard way.

What’s life if one is not curious. Curiosity can be both good and bad but as individuals, I believe we should all strive for the positive kind of curiosity. The curiosity that leads you to discover yourself, new things, new people and new adventures. That’s what I challenged my curiosity into when I grew up. Growing up, we all get to learn more about ourselves- what we are good at and where we fall short and most of us Kai it our life’s work to work to become the best versions of ourselves. Regardless, there’s always those things that always found a way to whoop us in the ass.

For me, mine was chemistry. Way back in senior high school, I loved all other subjects cos I found them to be easy and teachers made me love them but you see chemistry, it thought me a big lesson. Because first of all, our teacher wasn’t a serious one. He always chose to run his business during chemistry period instead of teaching us. So being the person that I was ,I chose to sleep anytime he started with his advertisement. This made me not really have much interest in chemistry. Surprisingly, given how curious I was then, I was surprised I wasn’t even moved to dive deeper into that subject. My results for chemistry weren’t very good as compared to the others and my dad was always mad. When I finally decided to start liking chemistry, it was too late. There was a lot of catching up to do, thanks to my teacher and myself. It’s safe to say that subject showed me real pepper because I cried premium tears trying to catch up. I always say that that’s part of the top 5 things I’ve had to struggle with learning in my life.

Away from my trails and tribulations with chemistry, I was always battling with something else. It wasn’t necessary a battle but I didn’t know how to cook. Aside boiling hot water, I couldn’t prepare a decent meal at the age of 14. So, I decided to stray following my mom everywhere and even joining her to cook because the old me was always buried in books them. Thankfully, my mom took her prodigal daughter back with open hands and helped me chef my way up. Cooking to me was very easy. Infact, it was for than easy. It’s like it came to me naturally and I enjoyed doing it. I didn’t struggle to learn the recipes quickly. It felt like I was a chef in my previous life because everything was a pirate of cake for me aside the fact that I felt joy in my heart anytime I cooked. To me, cooking and seeing people eat my food is a full therapy. I love cooking and I most definitely love seeing others enjoy my dishes.

One things these two experiences have thought me about life is that, some things will come easily to you while you will have to sweat your ass off for some things. At the end of the day, everything will be worth the effort. This is my story of struggle and survival.

Some teachers just don't care if a student learn or not, they are just after their pay and that's bad. Hope the school noticed his nonchalant attitude?

Haha, “premium tears” trying to catch up with chemistry 😂. Glad you found something like cooking that you genuinely enjoy!
