Despite winning the league again last year it was a tight race and one they just scraped at the end.
Hearts had the lead for a long time before dropping vital points just at the wrong time.
They also had a very poor European season missing out on the Champions league by losing to a shit Kazakhstani team FC Kairat. That dropped them into the Europa league but lost to Stuttgart in the knockout stages without looking convincing at any point.
It's probably unrealistic for them to think that they should be competing at the top table of football based on their league and their budget but in terms of club size they are right up there with the best in Europe. It's a hard position to be in as they look for deals in the bargain basement and try to compete with the aristocrats of football.
With that said they put on a much better show last night in the Champions league qualifiers winning 3-0 and scoring a few savage goals.
This is a final stage before the main group stages so if they can perform to the same level in the return fixture they will be back in the big time.
It was great to see that a couple of their new arrivals had a big game and showed that they can play at the level required for a big club and European competition.
