This is nothing new; however, just like horror, mystery, and suspense, I’m also a fan of this type of thriller, which is truly entertaining—and if the acting is compelling, I’m even more eager to watch them. Such is the case with the film Mutiny: Code of Vengeance, starring the explosive Jason Statham—who, by the way, is also a producer on the film. As I said before, Mutiny doesn’t try to reinvent the genre with contrived twists, but rather presents, with complete candor, the fast-paced action, suspense, chases, survival, and that touch of revenge we’ve all come to expect from Jason.
A film directed by Jean-François Richet—a director known for his technical perfection in conveying, through each scene, that tension, suspense, action, and mystery that makes the viewer feel like part of the story; in other words, everything seems so real that we’re captivated by every moment of the film. The truth is, while this film isn’t exactly a masterpiece, it does deliver on its promises. It’s an entertaining and easy-to-watch option that lets you disconnect from the real world and get immersed in a plot that becomes addictive as it unfolds. If you like this kind of movie and are also a fan of Jason—I guarantee you this guy will destroy the entire world to achieve his goal—come and enjoy it.

Cole is framed for the crime and must escape; it’s not just about getting away—the plan is revenge—and he discovers exactly where to look; we’re heading out to the high seas.
The revenge begins, and his friend Cole wants to unravel this mystery; to do so, he boards a cargo ship owned by the company. He manages to get on board thanks to his connections and the fact that one of the victims was a potential employee of the company. As you might expect, the action never stops, and with Angie Ellis by his side, things take a turn. Everything changes—because the cargo the ship is carrying is anything but ordinary. The plot thickens, and a conspiracy is uncovered: the reason behind Tibu’s murder and who wanted him dead to keep the business running.
The tension builds by the minute—there are lots of gunshots and explosions; everyone wants to kill Cole and Angie because of the discovery they’ve made. The pacing is fantastic, very fast-paced, and the sense of survival is ever-present. The action scenes are nonstop and believable, and as usual, Jason doesn’t need to overdo it to get the job done. The surprise comes when you find out who’s behind it all, and, as you’d expect, Cole isn’t afraid to go all the way—that’s why Tibu hired him, and even in death, his code is vengeance.
The setting in each scene is well executed; most of the plot takes place on the high seas. There, you can visually feel the confinement of the cargo ship—narrow hallways, the cold of the metal, and the sea all contribute to a sense of utter anxiety, especially during combat scenes, where maneuverability is minimal. On the other hand, although it’s clearly an action movie, at its core, you realize that you can’t trust anyone and that anyone might betray you out of fear or for money—common themes seen every day in society. La verdad es una película, que si bien es cierto, no es una obra maestra; si cumple lo que promete, es una opción entretenida y fácil de digerir que te permite la desconexión del mundo real, para involucrarte con una trama que al pasar el tiempo se vuelve adictiva. La tensión aumenta minuto a minuto, son muchos disparos, explosiones; todos quieren matar a Cole y a Angie por el descubrimiento que han hecho. El ritmo es grandioso, muy rápido y el sentimiento de supervivencia está presente en todo momento. Las escenas de acción son continuas, creíbles y como es costumbre, Jason no necesita exagerar mucho para lograr su cometido. Lo sorprendente es conocer quien está detrás de todo esto y como es lógico; Cole no teme llegar hasta el final, para eso fue contratado por Tibu y aunque esté muerto, su Código es la Venganza.
La ambientación en cada escena está bien lograda; donde la mayor parte de la trama se lleva a cabo en alta mar. Allí visualnente se siente el encierro que proporciona el carguero; pasillos angostos, el frío del metal y el mar le dan ese toque de total ansiedad, especialmente en los momentos de combate, donde la capacidad de maniobra es mínima. Por otra parte, aunque es notorio que se trata de una película de acción; en el fondo se nota que no se puede confiar en nadie y que cualquier persona puede llegar a la tradición por miedo o por dinero; aspectos comunes que se ven a diario en la sociedad.
