Hace unos días, todos los algoritmos que hacen a mi día a día me sugerían incursionar en esta aplicación denominada Bilibili, que supuestamente es lo que sería YouTube para Occidente, pero China. Ante tanto insistencia, entro a ver algún tipo de tutorial de cómo crear la cuenta y todas esas cuestiones, y la verdad que me pareció tanto a Temu, que desistí. Digo, llenarme de otras responsabilidades y desatender el enfoque con lo que tengo ahora, creo que no es lo conducente. Pero, como todo emprendedor y buscador de oportunidades, volví a ver otro contenido al respecto y empiezo a reflexionar sobre la cuestión. Quizás por eso amamos tanto en nuestro ecosistema de Hive.

A few days ago, all the algorithms that run my day-to-day kept suggesting I try out this app called Bilibili, which is supposedly like YouTube for the West, but China's version. After so much insistence, I go check out some tutorial on how to create the account and all that stuff, and honestly it reminded me so much of Temu that I gave up on it. I mean, piling on more responsibilities and losing focus on what I've got going right now — I don't think that's the right move. But like every entrepreneur and opportunity-seeker, I went back and watched more content about it and started reflecting on it. Maybe that's why we love our Hive ecosystem so much.

      Entre dimes y diretes, pareciera que Google quiere incorporar, a través de Play Store, diferentes métodos para poder controlar las aplicaciones que uno tiende a descargarse. Supuestamente para resguardarte de hackeos, de aplicaciones que son estafas y muchos bla bla. Sospecho que simplemente es para frenar la invasión de aplicaciones y plataformas chinas a Occidente. Tal cual lo hacen los chinos por allá. Según dicen, no permiten que nada de Occidente ingrese. El puntapié inicial dicen que sucedió cuando obligaron a TikTok, que es una empresa china, a que sus accionistas sean también de Occidente, de manera de tener una tajada de la sandía y, por supuesto, algún tipo de control.

Between all the back-and-forth, it seems like Google wants to bring in, through the Play Store, different methods to control the apps people tend to download. Supposedly to protect you from app hacks that turn out to be scams and all that blah blah. I suspect it's simply to slow down the invasion of Chinese apps and platforms into the West. Just like the Chinese do over there. From what they say, they don't let anything from the West in. The starting point, they say, was when they forced TikTok, which is a Chinese company, to have shareholders from the West too, so they'd get a slice of the watermelon and, of course, some kind of control.

      Ahora, es increíble el poder de la centralización. Nada de lo que se sube a esta empresa es nuestro, y cuando ellos decidan, lo sacarán si creen pertinente. Y lo más loco de todo es que lo hacen en el nombre de la Libertad. Sabemos que nuestro ecosistema tiene principios de libertad, pero, según mi criterio, estamos en la fase de inicio. Todavía faltan muchos kilómetros por recorrer, y en el camino encontraremos muchos obstáculos y también quilombos, tal cual dice la iniciativa de nuestra comunidad Hive Argentina. Temu es otra plataforma de compras muy parecida a MercadoLibre, que ya la utilicé a modo de prueba y realmente funcionó perfectamente. Compré tres productos y me llegaron cinco, de los cuales dos no eran lo que esperaba. En conclusión, casi que no me regalaron nada. Pero, más allá de eso, funciona. Te podés comprar una insignificancia y la semana que viene la tenés en la puerta de tu casa. Si hay algo que los chinos tienen, es efectividad en los procesos.

Now, the power of centralization is incredible. Nothing you upload to this company is really yours, and whenever they decide to, they'll take it down if they see fit. And the craziest part of all is that they do it in the name of Freedom. We know our ecosystem has principles of freedom, but in my opinion, we're still in the early stage. There's still a lot of ground to cover, and along the way we'll run into a bunch of obstacles and also quilombos, just like our Hive Argentina community's tagline says. Temu is another shopping platform pretty similar to MercadoLibre, which I already tried out as a test and it honestly worked perfectly. I bought three products and five arrived, two of which weren't what I expected. So basically they barely gave me anything for free. But beyond that, it works. You can buy something insignificant and the following week you've got it at your doorstep. If there's one thing the Chinese have, it's efficiency in their processes.

      A esta altura de la vida, creo que lo importante es estar preparado para los cambios. Quizás me abra una cuenta en Bilibili para tenerla por las dudas. Nunca sabemos lo que puede pasar, y más cuando hay mucho dinero y poder en el camino. Quizás en el futuro esas cuentas crezcan exponencialmente en Occidente y los chinos puedan conocer algo de nuestra cultura. Y, por supuesto, como creador de contenidos y buscador del vil metal, también busco monetizar mi tiempo. Creo que si lo hago es principalmente por eso: buscar ingresos con lo que hago.

At this point in life, I think what matters is being ready for change. Maybe I'll open a Bilibili account just to have it, just in case. You never know what might happen, especially when there's a lot of money and power at stake. Maybe in the future those accounts will grow exponentially in the West, and the Chinese will get to know a bit of our culture. And of course, as a content creator and seeker of the almighty dollar, I'm also looking to monetize my time. I think if I do it, it's mainly for that: to earn income from what I do.

      En la historia han existido muchas guerras, pero creo que nunca ha sucedido una guerra tecnológica. Creo que se avecinan cambios muy bruscos en la sociedad internacional, y estos momentos son cruciales. Son simplemente reflexiones que hago en este camino, porque sinceramente no tengo pruebas al respecto, simplemente razonamientos que tengo. Pero una guerra tecnológica no creo que sea con soldados de a pie que vayan con sus fusiles como en otras épocas. Quizás en nuestro propio celular estarán los medios para controlarnos y saber hasta qué pensamos. Pero bueno, no quiero divagar mucho sobre la cuestión. Throughout history there have been many wars, but I don't think a technological war has ever happened before. I think very sudden changes are coming in international society, and these are crucial times. These are just reflections I'm working through along the way, because honestly I don't have proof about it, just reasoning of my own. But a technological war, I don't think it'll involve foot soldiers going out with rifles like in other eras. Maybe our own phones will be the tools used to control us and know what we're even thinking. But anyway, I don't want to ramble too much about it.
