English version
It’s hard for me to stay away from the beach for very long. Today, after finishing my first task of the morning, and without giving it much thought, I returned to seek refuge on the shores of Caigüire, a place that always manages to relax me.
The scenery is always enchanting in this area; the sky treats us to different hues, and the clouds look like beautiful, fluffy cotton balls. This place is full of picture-perfect views, and I’m sharing a few of them here for you to enjoy. It’s true that every day is different, but my sense of well-being remains constant when I’m in touch with the marine ecosystem.
One image that stuck in my memory was that of some fishermen making coffee over a small open-air fire under a tree. Yet another sign that these men see this place as their home. This rudimentary method is complemented by another one I’d observed earlier: straining the coffee through a stocking or sock.
And as is customary, there was a fresh fish stand set up on the beach, selling the catch from the fishing trip that began in the early morning and ended at dawn. Catacos, picuas, and cojinoas lay gleaming among the fish on offer to the public.
Without a doubt, the people of Caiguire have a cheerful spirit—especially those who live near the sea and make their living from fishing. They know no other way of life besides the one they inherited from their parents or relatives. These men, weathered by the sun and salt, have learned to read and understand the sea from all the times they’ve been out there.
This impromptu visit took place at seven in the morning; at that hour, the heat wasn’t stifling. The sun was just rising and casting a warm glow on the water—that kind of light that lends a fascinating effect to photographs.
