A walk filled with art along the riverbanks (Eng/Esp)

English version

Strolling along the banks of the Manzanares River has become an extremely pleasant activity. This freshwater stream gives me the sense of calm I need to relax. Walking while observing nature is definitely not the same as walking on concrete with nothing else to admire.

This time I was on Aristigueta Avenue, near the Guzmán Blanco Bridge, taking a break from my daily routine to find inspiration that keeps my mind constantly active. This area has changed since the last time I visited; not only does it look cleaner, but it now features new murals and concrete benches for the public. At the corner, right at the start of the walk, there’s a mural honoring the popular Cundo, “El enano del Tamarindo,” and as we walk a little further, we see a portrait of Pedro Lucas, a well-known reporter from Cumaná who’s famous on social media for instantly reporting on events happening in the city.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take the photos I wanted, since the place was packed with people, cars, motorcycles, and buses—they’ve set up the transit stop here again for Cumanacoa and nearby towns like Cedeño, Monegro, and Río Arenas, and there’s also a motorcycle taxi service operating—which made it impossible for me to capture the beauty and creativity of the murals in all their splendor, so I’ll have to save that for when the area is less crowded.

What I can say is that I enjoyed my walk surrounded by greenery, which is always a pleasant experience for me—especially when you can see Guaquerí Park across the river. I try to hold onto the feelings that bring me a sense of well-being because that’s how my nervous system functions at its best. It’s up to me to ensure that life stops being a heavy burden and instead becomes a series of unique moments that, when I recall them, bring me smiles and satisfaction.

I stood there for a while, watching the activity around me, enjoying the peace of mind that comes from walking to my destination—something many people here are unable to do. Everyone was absorbed in their own worries, without pausing to take in the small but meaningful details.

What a beautiful idea to combine a walk along the river with discovering artwork along the way. I love seeing how art becomes a part of everyday spaces and allows people to experience familiar places in a different way. The combination of nature, water, and creative works seems like a great way to spend time outdoors. Thank you for sharing this walk with us... Of course, I see no room for a statue or artistic sculpture in this space. It would be much more interesting for people if they installed such works in these environments.
