Living On Sunshine and a Side of Snacks: Picking Up Paragis on the Sideroad and a Great Find of Classic Puto With Grated Coconut

I said I won't eat bread today. I've been eating too much bread in the past week and my stomach is already complaining for eating it too much. And so, as a replacement for bread, I decided to just buy the Pancit Guisado from a nearby restaurant. I am still not drinking coffee but I had Milo yesterday. I'm thinking of drinking a cup again today to pair with Pancit but I change my mind...coz I still ended up buying Spanish Bread when I bought some bread for the oldies hahaha. Aigoooo. I mean, I just thought Pancit is really perfect with Bread so without thinking much, I bought two. And at least, I still limit myself for just having two pieces of Spanish Bread, I know my limit U See ƪ(‾.‾“)┐

Now here's the still hot Pancit Guisado. It is a combination of a Bihon and Miki. Whats make this special is, it is really hot when I bought it and boy it is so cheap but and the taste is just alright. It is a budget food that will make you feel full and will remind you of "home." Nyommmm

And here's the Spanish Bread I bought in MRB, its good but I can't find the salty taste that comes from margarine on its fillings. I just had it weeks ago and I really feel like they change their baker. Even their Choco Roll is kinda different from what i'm used to. Anyways, it is perfect with Pancit, thats for sure. I didn't eat the whole Pancit coz its too big for me. I shared most of it with Mamabels.

So, after fueling ourselves with a nice breakfast, Me and Mama go to the market to buy this and that. But mama has other goal too aside from going to the market. She wants to pick some Paragis in here which was rich in it. She's gonna boil then and drink it. Picking them up kinda need strength though, mama had a hard time too, just a tiny bit, and good thing mama has more of it. Lol

After picking up Paragis, next is buying our viand. Mama decided to get Dilis or anchovies. While I got GG or Galunggong. Both of the fish are still fresh so... \(^o^)/ And just a short story, Mama saw this kind old woman and she's so excited actually and when I check, she is actually selling the classic Puto or Rice Cake. I hot excited too, to be honest. Mama also mentioned how good her Puto so if Mama say so, I also have to try it. And so I did. I actually bought two pack

And coz its a classic Puto, she also has grates coconut which is what I know in the classic Puto made with rice. As for the Puto, it has two color, violet and the classic white. Its not a flavor it is just food coloring or to make it more appealing. To be honest, it is so good. The Puto that was sols during Tiangge-an day is made of flour. There are times that they have rice cakes too but there's no grated coconut. And thats what I love in my Puto. I'm really so glad we encountered this Lola that sells this. Maybe she also made them at home, you know those classic and yummy Lola style Puto. Always made with love and care ♪ \(^ω^\ )

Why do we Filipinos love pairing bread with pancit when they're both carbs? Hehe

I really love pairing bread with pancit too! Hehe. When we were still little, we used to buy pandesal and use pancit as the filling. Sometimes, we would also eat pancit canton with plain bread, without any filling. While looking at your post, Ma’am,I’m getting hungry and craving pancit. It has always been my all-time favorite, and until now, I still love it so much. Hehe

It’s funny how you still bought Spanish Bread para sa oldies, even if you said no bread today. Sometimes cravings win, nuh? 😆 Picking Paragis sounds hard, but your precious Mama did a good job. It’s nice you both went to the market together.

  • The Pancit, Spanish bread, and Puto all look so delicious. Enjoy your day!

There’s something truly special about homemade food prepared with love—especially when it brings back memories of the past. 🥰 It’s also wonderful that you and your mom spent time together going to the market.
