So We Also Don't Have Aimless Battles Anymore?

Hello, there! **@saydie** here, playing **Splinterlands** everyday!

So, after finding out yesterday that Shades of Gray was no longer included in the ruleset circulation in battles, I have been searching more into this rabbit hole to look for other game modifiers that have been silently removed from the game. It is fascinating that I have found 6 more modifiers that I could no longer see in any of my battles, and I have found a means to verify that these rulesets were no longer included in battles by looking them up through custom challenges. Because if you can't select them when making a custom challenge, chances are, you can't also encounter them in battles. Though this also depends on whether the team has updated the rulesets available in custom challenges.

This time, I tried to search for the Aimless ruleset and did not find it, which led me to say that it was sunsetted from the current ruleset circulation.

Including the recently added game modifier, Splinterlands now has a total of 82 Game Modifiers. This is if we include all the seasonal rulesets as well as all the inactive ones. As you all know, game modifiers are a vital part of the game, as it changes the conditions that could affect the result of every battle. Depending on which rulesets are at play can dramatically influence what cards players will use, as they have to adapt their tactics on the fly so that they can win the battle. So, it is not an exaggeration to say that the Game Modifiers can sometimes pose more of a threat than your opponent.

And along my search for these rulesets, I found out that I do not have a single battle where Aimless ruleset was available, whether it was on Modern, Survival, Brawls, or even on Tournaments. And through Custom Challenges, I also confirmed that the ruleset was no longer available.

All units with magic and ranged attacks have Scattershot (magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit).

*Scattershot can target Camouflaged units.

Aimless is a ruleset that gives all units the Scattershot ability, which will result in both magic and ranged to targeting a random enemy unit per turn. It doesn't affect the behaviour of melee units. Having this ruleset active is similar to using the Chaos Legion Legendary Fire Archon, Conqueror Jacek.

I can somehow get why a player would not like having this ruleset in their battles, given how it randomizes card attacks, as it could cost them losing battles that they could have won because of the RNG element this ruleset brings. But at the same time, this ruleset could be really effective during Fog of War, and Now You See Me, where you can usually only target the enemies in the front line. This ruleset could also work as a means to attack backline units that get protected when the Chaos Legion Legendary Dragon Archon, Lily Shieldpaw, is used, as it gives the Camouflage ability to ally units.

Aside from that, having Aimless ruleset could be very effective at spreading Status ailment debuffs such as Affliction, Poison, and Snare on different opponent units, so while it randomizes card attacks, this ruleset could also be utilized well to be a part of a well-thought-out strategy.

Closing

So yeah, I can now certainly confirm that Aimless can no longer be found in battles. While it could be because of its RNG nature that it was removed from the ruleset circulation, I would say that I do not mind having it once or twice in every 20 battles I play, as it can be really useful in utilizing certain abilities and when certain rulesets are active.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
